Extreme favoritism. Culture biased hard work will only run you into the ground while the laziest get the overtime for deliberately milking the clock
Team Member (Former Employee) - Salt Lake City, UT - May 2, 2023
Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedUnless you know someone in management or supervisor position. You will not advance. You will pull far more than a fair workload to compensate the wages of their favored pet hires. It's the opposite of equal opportunity. If you are not in 1 of the many biased "clicks" established within almost every department. You'll be used up until you can't stand it anymore. Keep looking if you want a decent job

Fast paced. Good benefits. Low pay and overworked.
Team Member (Former Employee) - Crestview, FL - July 18, 2023
I worked there for about a month. Just gave my notice. Moved up fast and was working on being an assistant manager. 100 hours in two weeks was nice for overtime pay but not enough for the hassle. No one was really in charge but a lot of people thought they were. Lots of bad employees. Getting yelled at by the old assistant manager sucks. Low pay means most employees have no work. No pride in the store. No help learning from other employees. Made me feel stupid. Too much back stabbing going on. Too many people getting preferential treatment. The few that worked hard like me got burnt out fast. Too much focus on keeping labor rates low. Discount was awesome.
Pros
Discount and benefits
Cons
No one cares. Low pay. Low morale.

What is the best part of working at the company? Benefits and discount are not bad. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Constant wage suppression. Heavily understaffed. Clandestine favoritism from the leadership makes it hard to move up. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Favoritism runs rampant, if you don't get on management's good side then don't bother trying to have a career here What is a typical day like for you at the company? Constantly rushing, putting away all sorts of freight, taking care of customers as best as possible

I don’t know
Team Member (Former Employee) - Puyallup, WA - July 22, 2022
Try it out. Haven’t worked there. Going to an interview. Trying to look at the reviews to see if it’s worth it. Based on the reviews I’ve seen so far it is not worth it. I haven’t seen anything over 3 stars. They all say good pay but bad management.

Leadership is not there. No support or direction for success. Absolutely no appreciation for long hours and hard work.
Team Member (Current Employee) - Forest Park, GA - February 24, 2022
During the last few years, OReilly Auto Parts became a completely different work environment. Unfortunately, it was not a good one. Upper management has lost its expectation of excellent customer service. They drive a low morale team to work 6 days a week, which includes mandatory overtime. The company has either forgotten how important the cultures that OReilly were built around that set it a part from other auto companies or they just doesn’t care. It’s sad, it was a very good company to work for, at one time.

Dead end job with horrible pay and no employee appreciation
Team Member (Current Employee) - Florence, AL - February 23, 2022
Under-appreciated and under-paid. Rarely a chance for advancement. Slim career opportunities. Weekly total hours feel like I should be making way more than I am. Management and corporate bosses know nothing of the wishes of every store. Horrible store support and ordering system.
Pros
Down time
Cons
Most of it

This company is a joke.
Team member (Current Employee) - Friendswood, TX - March 25, 2021
Oreilly auto parts will drain you of your happiness and motivation to come to work. I am miserable. I have worked here for almost 5 years with hardly any pay raise, I work my a** off while everyone else just skates on by down easy street. Most of the people here are here for a paycheck only and nothing more. Management is horrible, my store has been through 3 managers since I've been here, all full of promises of change and a better work environment all to just follow the same path as the previous manager. Our store barely functions, product theft is horrendous, all the "higher ups" are worried about is their bonuses and cutting store costs so their checks are bigger, even if it means compromising safety or the well being of the "team members" if you're wanting to work here make sure you're ready to work for not even enough pay to afford your regular monthly bills unless you climb the ladder fast and move into management positions. My suggestion is dont waste your time with this company.
Pros
Discount on parts.
Cons
Over worked, underpaid, horrible management, and HR is a joke.

Great culture. Teamwork at its best
Team Member (Current Employee) - Naperville, IL - November 16, 2020
Most departments support one another. There are some departments/supervisors that don't pull their fair share or support even when constantly getting support from other departments

Demanding work environment
Team Member (Former Employee) - Houston, TX - November 12, 2020
If you have never worked retail, this may not be the job for you. Entry level wages are low, usually below $10/hr. When you start out expect to work every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Its very difficult to get weekends off. If you want to try for a higher starting wage, negotiate that before you start, annual reviews will not compensate you for what you are worth. O'Reilly has one day off a year and that is Christmas Day. If you are new. Expect to work second shift and work every holiday. There is very little of a work life balance. You will receive a discount on your personal parts you buy and discount %'s vary from item to item. Most things you can get online through other sources, if you are willing to wait. Healthcare is fairly expensive, i am not sure exactly how much the company contributes, but it does not appear to be a lot.
Pros
% of discounts on some items
Cons
Home/work balance, benefits, holiday schedule

sucks

i don't care too much for working at oreilly. HR isn't always far or confidential, there is some favoritism in some areas, and upper management sucks.

Demanding, Unprofessional
Team Member (Former Employee) - Nashville, TN 37204 - March 26, 2020
Upper management cares more about themselves then the people that work in the DC. No communication with Team members or Supervisors.
2 sets of rules 1 for the Upper management and 1 for the Team members. Expect all team members to put the company first and their family and health last.

Pretty Laid back.
Team Member (Part-time) (Former Employee) - Amarillo, TX - December 16, 2019
Help customers with what they are needing. Check problems that they may have. Test their vehicle to see what a problem would be with it. Run the register and find the product that they are needing. The managers are very helpful when needed at any given time.

It was a decent company to work for but it isn’t worth the pay. The customers are great and so are the employees. They just need to raise there starting pay and give more pay increases to the employees who do everything asked of them.

Hardest part of the job
Part Time Team Member (Former Employee) - Thomasville, AL - May 29, 2019
The hardest part of the job was trying to understand what some people want because a lot of people think you should just know and understand what people want.

Low pay
Team Member (Former Employee) - Indiana - March 30, 2019
O'Reilly is wonderful to work for as far as the actual job goes. The employees are kind and laid back. The culture of O'Reilly Auto Parts always put the needs of the employee before the need to work, therefore, the job is low-stress. The downfall of working for O'Reilly is the severe lack of giving raises. The company is sure to let employees know that they have made over one billion dollars, but seem to refuse to pay the employees properly. Once hired, it is likely that you will stay at that pay rate for several years.
Pros
fitness opportunities, team building programs
Cons
NO raises

Poor Management
Team Member (Former Employee) - Reno, NV - February 11, 2019
Very un professional management at his store. I requested a certain day off 3 weeks in advance, and my manager said I could have it off. The reason I got it off is because it was my band's album release show. An hour before the show, my manager texted me saying that I needed to abandon the show and get to work at that minute or else I would be fired. I told him that this show was very important to me and I couldn't continue to work there if I couldn't play the show that night and he texted me back saying how I played myself.
Pros
Discounts. Being around cars
Cons
Bad management
