My experience at ODB has been positive. Everyone is working hard to meet the needs of all of the kids. Teaching is a challenging job so it definitely requires a lot of patience and consistency.

Clear divide between administration and teaching staff. I reported to no less than 4 different administrators, all of whom had their own agendas and ways of teaching. All administrators act like they have psychology degrees and are constantly trying to psychoanalyze the staff. Co teachers are supportive (for the most part) but backstabbing not only happens, it is encouraged in an effort to be transparent.

ODB is a community that has a lot of needs. While there are many administrators, there are only two per academy and they work very hard to make sure their staff feel supported and cared for. There have been SEVERAL times that I have had personal things pop up during work and they have always been incredibly accommodating and they make it work for everyone. My teaching is observed almost weekly and I have coaching meetings every single week. I am allowed to be innovative and change the curriculum to fit the needs of my scholars. My kids are amazing and they make the whole job worth it. They can be hard at times and they require patience and love. If you are not ready to give this to your students then this is not the place for you.

At this school you will teach amazing students and work with lots of great teachers. You get a lot of flexibility with what you teach. You also get a lot of feedback on lessons and support with students when you need it. Admin is consistently working to improve and makes sure your voice is heard when challenges arise. There are lots of learning opportunities and overall it is a great place to grow as a teacher.

Staff are given a wide variety of small gifts and attention to show appreciation for their work. Education is a tough place to work but I have never been in a place that shows this appreciation.
