Medical Case Manager (Current Employee) – Aurora, IL 60505 – March 13, 2019
Open Door is an amazing place to work the culture is great as well as work hours 8:30-4:30 with an hour paid lunch from 12-1p the office closes just for staff to eat lunch. Many other perks to the job such as great PTO and annual bonus as well as raise yearly although starting salaries are low the atmosphere and culture is what keeps many here!
Open Door Health Center is a great place to work. Everyone here is extremely friendly, supportive, welcoming, and passionate about their roles. The work environment is very laid back, getting an hour for lunch every day and ability to earn PTO.
You also get a very good deal for when you personally need an appointment here - including dental, medical, and behavioral health services.
The most enjoyable part about my job is that I'm not stressed when I leave for the day. Work stays at work.
We're also only open Monday-Friday, meaning no weekends!
I would highly recommend ODHC as a place to work.
No weekends, relaxed work environment, friendly staff
Management cares little for employees, no advancement, little if any raises BEWARE
Support Services Representative (Current Employee) – Mankato, MN – September 24, 2018
Skills in Spanish are not appreciated here. You get paid the same as anyone else in your position who doesn't speak Spanish. Severely underpaid as a interpreter. Little incentive to go above and beyond since it will never be noticed. If you're lucky to get a raise, it's miniscule. The fact that ODHC is a Community Health Clinic is not an excuse to treat employees poorly. The Board better start addressing this turn-over situation before it becomes too widespread. On a positive note, your co-workers are great.
Manager (Current Employee) – Mankato, MN – September 4, 2018
like many companies Open Door has gone through some growing pains but they are on the path for a great future. The Leadership Team is engaged and working toward the same goals. Employees are engaged and willing to pitch in to make it a great place to work. I am glad I am working at Open Door Health Center.
Poor employee turnover. Awful management, you’re not allowed to have a voice. They don’t follow procedures put in place. Very passionate employees who care about the patients and the mission but they’re all under appreciated!
Management (Former Employee) – Mankato, MN – July 9, 2018
The CEO and Human Resources manager have created a hostile and intimidating environment. It is like a bad episode of survivor. The company does great things to help people but the Board needs to look into the reason for turn-over.
Certified Medical Assistant (Former Employee) – Mankato, MN – April 12, 2018
Management runs off of a power trip and if you stand up for your self or offer advice they shut you down, and force you to leave. They make you do the job of 3 people, and have the highest turn over rate I have ever seen. All the providers there are looking for new jobs that will not over work them, and force them to chart all night and all weekend.
very good place to work at with an incredibly nice people which have only one goal and that is to serve people. however, when your efforts don't match your compensation, its gonna be a problem and thats why i left Open Door Health Center
Certified Medical Assistant (Current Employee) – Mankato, MN – October 13, 2017
Management needs improvement and they need to pay their employees better. Experience means nothing to management, but yet they will not give a new person a second look. ODHC wouldn't pass labor laws or state regulations for the way it is ran.
Some of the co workers
Drama, bad managaement and not paid for experience
Medical (Current Employee) – Mankato, MN – June 28, 2017
It's so rewarding to care for people who may have to go without due to insurance. All people deserve equal medical care! I love this place. They treat patients no matter their circumstances and will go above and beyond to make sure everyone is cared for on an individual level.
Full time (Former Employee) – Mankato, MN – May 18, 2017
Great people to work with on a daily basis. Great to feel like your making a different in patient lives. Very hard to see so many that have been turned away by other offices because of State Insurance and because of that they deal with many angry people. It is so nice that the office can most of the time have interpreters for Patients to feel comfortable and understand what is going on.
Some long hours if you travel with mobile or go to satellite offices
Substance Abuse Intern (Former Employee) – Aurora, IL – March 12, 2017
The staff of Open Door were incredible people to work with. The health center was quite busy, and appeared understaffed. The most enjoyable part of the job were the clients, and warm hearted employees.
