Management pretends to have a goal, but has no real plans
Manager (Former Employee) –  Pasadena, CAApril 20, 2017
Most of middle management it trying to get into upper management by putting together super goals that are completely unrealistic. They are mostly a public sector energy services company with a limited market. Workload can go from non-existent, to 18 hour days depending on project load. Most of the workforce are nice people, but even they are showing signs of wear and getting tired. The most enjoyable part is that they HAVE to pay well, because work balance and management are so poor.
Pros
Good Pay
Cons
No workable business plans and too politcal

Does not demonstrate the core values it claims to promote.
Not Available (Current Employee) –  Oakland, CAJuly 27, 2016
CONS: 1) Poor home/work balance. A typical day is 10+ hours, with more than an occasional weekend work needed to stay on top of critical path project deliverables. 2) Upper Management is slow to respond to change and does not provide adequate resources, (personnel and/or software) to support industry standard results. 3) Limited opportunity for growth, as promotions are usually limited to a small circle of internal candidates.

PROS: Most team members are competent and collaborative.
Pros
Co-workers are dedicated and demonstrate team work.
Cons
Bias and promotion of managers with poor skills, limited experience and questionable ethics.

Unprofessional vultures
Office Manager (Former Employee) –  Norwell, MAFebruary 14, 2016
The only thing that Opterra Energy Services cares about is money. They do no care about their employees. There is no growth potential. Terminated employees without reason even if they are doing a great job. Turn the other way and keep on walking. You do not have a future at this company.
Pros
There are none
Cons
Backing stabbing environment

OK place to work
Project Engineer (Current Employee) –  San FranciscoSeptember 8, 2015
OpTerra is a fun place to work with many people dedicated to their projects. The workload comes in waves as they are primarily focused in the public sector. The management is engaged with employees and there is a focus on learning. The company does have lofty goals and it doesn't look like they know how to meet them.
