I enjoyed how the environment can be both professional and culturally sensitive. Respect and accountability embodies the establishment.
Registered Nurse (Former Employee) – Fountain Valley, CA – July 10, 2018
I would not hesitate to recommend my friends to work at orange Coast Memoral Medical Center (OCMMC). The hospital is very clean, firstly. Secondly, every staff is very supportive and customers are always expressive of their graditude for having been given the best kind of care. The hospital is not only a place for the sick to feel better, it has been a place for me to experience healing as healing was embodied in everyone. From exchanging a genuine conversation, a gentle gesture, a compassionate smile, or even as one person is encouraged to assist another from a wheelchair or to his bed because there is simply a sense of community. An opportunity to heal is given to patients and staff alike in OCMMC. I OCMMC also encourages staff to shine and bring on their A game. Not one staff is better than the other, and every person is a part of a group that relies on eachother to grow. OCMMC is about building eachother up. Similarly, OCMMC provides a certain space for all to feel appreciated and honored. It is not everyday that a nurse can find him/herself at her place of work with a genuine feeling of gratitude. At OCMMC, I experienced personal and professional growth; I learned that there is strength in community and that healing is a shared experience.
Fast paced, unpredictable, challenging but satisfying
Case Manager (Current Employee) – Orange County, CA – January 28, 2018
Great learning experience, nurses and physicians are overall great to work with. Case managers do not work collaboratively and there is constant in-fighting and turf wars. Manager is newer and working on improving department, but faces a lot of challenges with changing a cut-throat culture that has existed for a very long time.
Small friendly hospital with benefits of a big corporation
Registered Nurse (RN) (Former Employee) – Fountain Valley, CA – January 9, 2018
I loved working at OCM. It is a small hospital so you get to know everyone, from multiple departments, very fast. Because they are apart of Memorial Care, you get the benefits of a large corporation while still having a small hospital environment. The pay is less than other local hospitals, but they recognize that and do their best to be competitive. Because it is a magnet hospital they have specific polices and procedures in place to help streamline your workflow. There is room for advancement and they seem to hire within first. Management is understanding with schedules and they do their best to accommodate you. Staff is friendly and works collaboratively. Doctors can be problematic and difficult at times, but that seems to be true with any hospital; although management tries to address this to the best of their ability. An overall great place to work.
Productive and friendly workplace with hardworking employees
Physical Therapy Office Assistant Volunteer (Current Employee) – Fountain Valley, CA – December 18, 2017
The mornings are a bit slow but pick up around noon. Typically i do clerical work and interact with patients as they come in for their appointment. I manage my time from checking in patients and doing routine checks of the treatment rooms. The hardest part of the job is admitting a new patient because it involves a lot of paperwork. The most enjoyable part of he job is seeing the patient get the help that they need
Very fast paced, and talented coworkers to collaborate with
GI Nurse/Relief Charge Nurse (Former Employee) – Fountain Valley, CA – April 26, 2017
Preop patient, provide conscious sedation for GI Procedures, recover patient to discharge home. Collaborate with other nurses in department and various floors during communication of patient status. On-call after 5:00 P.M. for emergency procedures. A very culturally diverse population of nurses, physicians and patients. The hardest part of the job is on-call being called in during early morning hours, and then working your regular shift in addition.
Team collaboration, fun, and helpful nurses and resources
Team player, multitasker, customer service friendly , self motivated
Medical Records Technician II (Current Employee) – Fountain Valley, CA – February 27, 2017
Orange Coast Memorial Medical Center is a magnet hospital that is always looking to grow and strive for the best. I've seen this in the 16 years I have been working there. In my field of work as a medical records technician II, the medical center is good with time management. For example, getting patients and doctors health information they need in a timely, efficient, and correct manner. The doctors and census have grown since I've been here and continues to grow. Team work comes in handy in these busy times, which is also a benefit of this hospital. Orange Coast Memorial Medical Center has a great benefits package for its employees.
