Fun work environment but job is never safe.
Account Executive (Former Employee) - Charlotte, NC - October 26, 2023
Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedSuper chill and laid back. Make good friends but the market is tough. Don't really make much money and you will quit, or be laid off within a couple of months.

Do not work here
Account Executive (Former Employee) - Orange, CA - October 23, 2023
This company has such a high turnover rate. You won’t make money. They hire way too many people. This company doesn’t care about its employees. I would recommend to work else where. Seriously.

Cold Calling and More Cold Calling
Account Executive (Former Employee) - Charlotte, NC - February 16, 2023
The job description markets the account executive role as a real estate finance position. This could not be further from true. The job consist of cold calling and more cold calling no finance involved. The management sets unrealistic goals that if are not met you get fired. While I was working at Orion in the Charlotte office all of the top producers in the office quit or were let go. Orion does not care about its employees and the benefits spoken about in the job description are not true.
Cons
No benefits, lack of communication, Cold calling

Account Executive (Current Employee) - Orange, CA - January 12, 2023
They hire way more people than they should in hopes of casting as big of a net as possible. Thanks to this I lost more deals to my own coworkers than I did to outside companies. Would only recommend if you’re willing to be as slimy as everyone else. Manager was great and my close coworkers were friendly and respectful, everyone else not so much. Compensation is significantly worse than they make it out to be.
Pros
Good manager

Demanding and exhausting
Underwriting Manager (Former Employee) - Remote - November 18, 2022
Mangement is not supportive, consistently change processes without thinking on the effect down the line. Trying to find ways not to pay out bonuses to underwriters. Micromanagement is out of control.

Not diversified it all
Underwriter (Current Employee) - Remote - October 30, 2019
Managers are no support at all. Back stabbing. AM’s are horrible/ terrible. AE don’t know what they are selling. The mangers bate you in like the company is all that. They strong arm you into approving uninsurable loans. They have a high turn over rate.

The training is weak and after few weeks of basically no training expected to be a fully productive employee
Remote Underwriter (Former Employee) - Orange, CA - March 10, 2019
There was minimal training and mgmt makes promises of additional training that never happens expects you to be fully productive in few weeks. Very high volume stressful atmosphere. All of this I can handle but was let go without any written or verbal warnings which was very disappointing. I was never fired from a job in my entire career and felt was not given a fair chance to be successful before being let go.
Pros
Pay, bonus plan
Cons
No training, no communication

Did not care for this company. Managers are awful and condescending
Underwriter (Former Employee) - California - April 17, 2018

Exhausting experience overall. Was not prepared for the lack of management skill on my team.
Pros
Health and dental insurance
Cons
Workload. No direction regarding overlays and guidelines

Workplace Culture
Jr. Account Manager - Wholesale (Former Employee) - Orange, CA - May 16, 2017
Orion Lending does not display teamwork or job security. Orion hired lots of employees knowing they did not have the business which led to many layoffs. As for teamwork not all employees get recognized for their hard work. They only give recognition to the employees that are measured on production. Work environment is clicky and management shows favoritism.
Pros
Free Lunch Month End
Cons
Work environment is clicky, PTO accures slowly, management is unfriendly
