I've learned a lot about the manufacturing industry in my role, which has given me a good experience. Most of the people here are genuine and nice people to work with, although there are bad outliers. Although there often is a clear path for advancement, there also is a lot of filibustering, directionless projects that feel unnecessary.

Great place to learn and get the most experience out of the job! OSI believes in promoting from within. I started out as a Supervisor and worked my way up to Manager.
Materials Manager in Riverside, CA

Working for a fast pace company is nothing new in this era. Working for OSI during the pandemic was nothing short of that. Each day was full of increasing demands, meeting with management and staff and the underlining pressure to make it happen daily. From a management viewpoint, the environment was full of stressful situations, both from peer level and staff. As it was my first stint as Manager, it was a learning experience for me. The food industry is fast paced (much faster than other industries). The culture can be tight sometimes (even cutthroat) which makes for the environment being tense on many days. The hardest part of the job (as with any management position) was having to terminate someone's employment. Another difficult part of the job is working with difficult peers. It's already hard enough doing your own job.Prior to working for OSI, I read their previous reviews. There was some reported issues about management. Unfortunately, I found a lot of them to be accurate. Being the Materials Manager, it was my job to accomplish all my individual tasks while building up and working with my team to be more efficient. As the management culture around my department continued to deteriorate (eventually ending in the termination of the Plant Manager), I found it increasingly difficult to keep my team focused. Management decisions begin to come from all directions, causing miscommunication and negative production efficiency. The environment didn't improve while I was there. This situation just gave those looking for an advantage the opportunity to gain momentum. As I am no longer with OSI (of my own accord to pursue personal venture), I cannot speak about 2022, however I hope and pray that the environment has improved both for the sake of the workers and for those coming into the company as managers.
