Prestigious resort to work for & excessive hours
Banquet Server/Cocktail Server (Former Employee) –  Cooperstown, NYFebruary 1, 2018
The Otesaga was a beautiful and culturally diverse place to work for. I loved that I was given the opportunity to work in so many various positions. My academic advisor recommended completing my internship at this company. The amount of hours in a day we were scheduled to work was excessive.
Pros
Opportunities, potential benefits, cultural diversity
Cons
Long hours, not enough break time, early mornings

Horrible employer that doesn't care at all for their employees!
RESORT HOTEL WAITER (Former Employee) –  Cooperstown, NYMay 16, 2016
The only reason to ever work here is for the tips. As a server, one can make a good amount of money working banquet events, such as weddings.
But the job requires that a person often times work until 2 AM and then return back to work b 7 AM. This usually continues for days on end and forces employees to sleep afternoons or suffer extreme exhaustion. Furthermore sometimes you don't even get afternoons off and you will be required to work upwards of 20 hours long shifts with out a time for sleep.
Management immediately takes it as a personal assault if you ask for time off, so there is no chance of having a life.
There is almost no room for promotion, as even upper management commonly makes less money than servers. This is because prices are so high that tips are great. But the hotel is such a cheap employer that they refuse to pay their management good wages. Therefore they suffer with high turnover rates and sub-management.
Required to work all holidays and management threatens to fire you if you even request certain dates off.
They have a cafeteria for the staff that commonly serves food that does not meet food safety regulations and has on occasion made several employees sick.
Pros
Good Tips
Cons
Horrible Hours; No Sleep; No Life outside of Work; Bad Management
