Dietary Aide (Former Employee) –  Pemberville, OHAugust 12, 2019
Poor Management. Horrible pay and overworked like crazy since everyone quits or calls off. Favoritism runs rampant. Would not recommend anyone to work here. Extremely stressful.

LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) (Former Employee) –  Maineville, OHAugust 8, 2019
Unsafe nurse ratios. Drama and stress filled environment. Micromanaged. Scattered and limited supplies. No crash cart. One nurse for over 40 residents, some skilled. Nurses have to take meds and narcotics outside and disperse them to cottages after receiving during overnight hours. Hours cut with no regards to staff needs when census drops. Unlicensed staff unaware of scope of their job and oversteps.

Ok place
Elder Assistant (Former Employee) –  Monclova, OHJuly 23, 2019
The concept is amazing. Each individual house feels like home especially with the home cooked meals for the elders. Pay is horrible for the amount of work. 2 aides in the house is unacceptable due to the need of the elders. Management is horrible. They offer no incentive for picking up hours except gift cards that are taxed on your check. If you work a holiday, you get paid straight time. Mandations happens almost daily so if you have another job they don’t care. If things would change, it would be a great place to work!

STNA (Current Employee) –  Monclova, OHJuly 18, 2019
It’s an okay place to work. Not the best. I wish I would have known what I was getting into before I started working here. Honestly 3rd shift is the only shift that I care to work there anymore as I don’t have to deal with management.

Terrible nursing management. Mandation. High turnover. Delegate duties when already overwhelmed and over worked. Always expecting more with less staff.

I enjoy working here. It’s a small neighborhood facility, so it feels like home to me. Workers are great and the management is awesome. Would definitely recommend this place to someone looking for a career.

Had a great experience to find new friends. Other then than that the management needs a lot of work. The scheduling needs to be done a lot better. There is a lot more wrong then right at this place.

Once was to be an amazing place to work and live for Seniors
Elder Assistant (Current Employee) –  Maineville, OHJune 21, 2019
Otterbein was a place where I would recommend a loved one to come and a friend to join in aiding the elderly live a wonderful life. I was proud to say I worked here, people knew what it was, especially compared to other long term care facilities. When you have great leaders, you do great things. One poor leader can ruin everything for the team, which sadly trickles down to the elders who suffer. No consistent staff , no supplies, it all because about money to keep the doors open . Extremely sad for everyone.

Great first job
Waitstaff (Former Employee) –  Lebanon, OHJune 17, 2019
A very fast paced job which will force you into responsibility. They pay more so they expect more. The management has gone down over the past few years, but it is still a great job. The best part of the job is getting to bond with the residents, but the worst part of the job is how overwhelming it gets at times. I've learned a lot about customer service with the residents/ guests and also with my co workers.

Upper Management has no clue
Worker (Former Employee) –  WorkerMay 26, 2019
From day one you are told about the culture. In the beginning they tell you about being connected to United Methodist principles on how to treat others. Unfortunately they don’t follow either. There are some good people there that try hard to do the right things. When you question with good reason some of the practices you get shut down and labeled as a bad seed.

Culinary Aide (Former Employee) –  Lebanon, OHMay 24, 2019
At Otterbein there were social groups. The culinary aids the waitresses, the STNA’s and management. I worked in the culinary aid section and we were treated as the lessers and the most work was put onto us.

Could be great if the management cared
STNA (State Tested Nursing Assistant) (Former Employee) –  Monclova, OHMay 19, 2019
The idea of Otterbein is amazing and beautiful
I loved the small household set up, being able to work one on one with residents.
Management ruined it.
The coach and guide at Monclova , only cared about money.
I kept records of things since my first day there that are just reasons management should be gone.
They overwork you, yell at the hardworking ones but not ththe lazy ones.
Management doesnt even have their license so they cant help you
They will reduce money spending instead of buying quality stuff.
They wont let you have overtime unless its beneficial to them.
Theyve made stnas work 16+ hours with no breaks.
The list goes on and on

I would go back if the management got better

Poor place to work
Stna (Former Employee) –  Gahanna, OHMarch 10, 2019
OMG! This concept is good. But they can't find the right management to run it one time they had the right people but new management came in and let them go we have no incentives there's no reason to work there the good employees are treated the same as the bad employees nobody communicates there and everybody is in competition with everybody else there is no team at all the food budget and supply budget is not being used so there is very little supplies and very little food. a lot of aides are not experience and they wouldn't know what to do in an emergency. There are no fire drills or bad weather drills.there is nobody left to train the aides the right way. They hire under age aides and leave them to work by theirselves. Most of them don't know how to cook. Do laundry or clean. Especially the kitchen. It is unsanitary. Most if the patients that come there all complain.

STNA (State Tested Nursing Assistant) (Current Employee) –  Amelia, OHMarch 6, 2019
I absolutely love working here. Everyone loves everyone and it’s a home away from home. I know our elders get top of the line care and attention. And if there are any areas that are lacking it is corrected immediately.

Great Paying Job
Front of House Staff (Former Employee) –  Lebanon, OHFebruary 16, 2019
A typical day at work depends on when you start your shift. If you start at 10:15, you start by setting up the salad bar for lunch. You only get 15 minutes to set everything up and open the cafe for lunch time, since lunch starts at 10:30. You are by yourself setting everything up and serving lunch to the residents via cafe line until your morning partner shows up at 11. Once they show up, they open the other line that is specifically for employees to get their lunch from. This side is only open until 12:30, which at that point the person working that side goes to the kitchen to start on the special salad for dinnertime. Lunch goes until 1, and at that point you break down the resident's side and you and your partner go on a 30 minute break. Once your break is over, you start getting deserts ready for dinner, and that usually keeps you busy until the rest of the FOH staff arrives at 3. You usually aren't expected to go to the dining room to help set up the tables for dinner, but your coworkers might be picky that day and not want to set up your specific section, which leaves you to do it when you are done with deserts and only have 5 minutes until dinner starts. Dinner starts at 4, and you serve residents that come in and out until 6. At that point, you and your coworkers go on a 30 minute break. Once you return, you clean up your specific section and do the specific clean up job that is assigned to that section. Once finished, the supervisor of the night will check your section and make sure your job is done and send you on your way home. You typically will get to leave between  more... 7:45-8 pm.  less
