Overall good experience working with the youth. I learned a lot about addiction and coping mechanisms for substance abuse. The people ove worked with were all great. We are all there for the same purpose, which is to educate the youth.

Worked here for a short while, loved the atmosphere for an even shorter time. Senior co-workers were very helpful and friendly. Beautiful place to work if you love the outdoors. But don't expect much recreation time. By the time I left, I was doing just about everything besides what I was originally hired for. Lots of overworked and overstressed employees.
Pros
Benefits and paid time off
Cons
Management, no compensation for the more you do

Very stressful environment.
Employees are overworked and underpaid and unappreciated.

Supervisors, once promoted, disappear leaving timid and inexperienced youth workers to handle situations on their own.

Kids who desperately need structure and guidance, run the show, and boss youth workers around. Youth workers either follow the kids directions or end up assaulted.
Pros
Co workers
Cons
Schedule, culture

Loved this place but the hours were not family friendly. Great culture that benefits the students involved. Build lasting relationships with fellow co-workers.

I worked here for over 2.5 years and enjoyed my time working with youth. At times fellow co-workers struggled for the fact that teenagers sometimes half their age would attempt to tell them what to do and boss the workers around. These workers never understood that these teens never had a father figure in their lives or that they made sad choices to end up at a Placement Center. No Youth is happy coming to a placement Center. I really enjoyed attempted to turn some of their lives around. I created special bonds with certain clients and made new relationships with fellow co-workers. If you can get over Teens thinking that they can run all over you and you show them the proper way to act as a teen again and adult you'll just do fine. This isn't summer camp so don't have that mindset you're going to work with troubled youth who sometimes have no were to go. So they act out so they can stay longer. That is where we came in as staff to help that client mental and physically get through their mental break downs. As some clients aren't that bad at all and you'll forget their there. Its a rewarding job some people aren't made for it. Its all mental

Job can be either the best job ever or the worst. Long work schedules can have effects on life outside of work. Rewarding when everything is going to plan.

This position was rewarding because of helping youths but it became stressful with the unpredictability and long days. This position is a give and take, so you have to have the right mindset going in.

Worked there for about a year and a half. This place seemed nice until I took a step back and looked at it.
Typical workday: Wake up at 0500. Deal with kids cussing at you and trying to hit you all day. If they do, it is your fault automatically, even when it isn't.

Management: Terrible. Absolutely terrible. They overstep themselves. They break equal employment policies and lie to you. They seem friendly and supportive until something happens then they are against you. Terrible environment from every management.

Coworkers: Complain and make matters worse.

Hardest part of the job: Every second you are at work.

Pros: medical benefits paid by employer

Cons: minimum wage job. Definitely not worth it. Work anywhere else and you will be happier.
Pros
Medical benefits
Cons
High stress environment. Being punched by kids. Being lied to by management. negative coworkers.

They build you up as a new employee then give you very little incentives. Once you learn the ins an outs then they create paper trail and limit your duties and pay cuts follow. They state they are ever adapting to students needs but are unwilling to change from old management SOP's. School setting is a joke. Management is not supportive of change, ideas, or educational staff. Students are repectful and are not the difficult individuals to work with. Essential key employees are ones that go with the flow and their presence on campus is limited.
Pros
Freedom in the classroom
Cons
Lack of motivated and qualified coordinators

Some Students want help but other want nothing to do with the program. The company says they are a family and here to help its employees but in reality this company only looks out for the upper employees. You get promoted without compensation, taking on many responsibilities and getting paid the same as new entry employees
Pros
Free food. week on week off, .
Cons
They keep taking benefits away, Little pay for the amount of work, Away from family for a week at a time
