Relaxed atmosphere for the most part with the exception of upper management
warehouse coordinator (Former Employee) –  Louisville, KYMay 25, 2018
Recent changes in upper management (I.E. CEO, Plant manager, Supervisors, etc.) forced lay offs of several amazing employees as upper level employees were outsourced. Work environment was relaxed for the most part with the exception of upper management.

Strong company but local management was extremly poor
Procurement and IS Manager (Former Employee) –  Albuquerque, NMJanuary 30, 2018
Management was very poor with local outsourcing clients. Senior management allowed for bulling and harassment by director. Minimal career opportunities for women.

Owens & Minor is a wonderful place to work. They value their employees and provide good work-life balance. They also foster an environment that encourages philanthropic behavior within our community. They provide competitive benefits and salaries but need a better established career path within their various departments.

100% Accuracy A Must
Shipping / Receiving Supervisor (Former Employee) –  City of Indistry, CaliforniaNovember 20, 2017
Medical supply industry. 100% accuracy on all items a must. Lead, Supervisors and Managers meet daily one hour prior to shift start and at least 30 minutes after shift completion or as oncoming day shift reported to work. Long hours because all orders had to be completed before team could leave.
Culture was above average, company would always give out recognition for jobs well done, gift certificates, dinner passes, movie tickets, game tickets and company products such as t-shirts, mugs, quarterly bonus.
Pros
Appreciation and Recognition in monthly facility meetings
Cons
Long hours nightly

Great place for a go-getter
Operations Supervisor (Current Employee) –  Ashland, VAOctober 7, 2017
People that put forth effort will reak the benefits. People that don't reach the production standards will eventually get fired. Management helps u reach goals. Teammates could work together better. Couple things here and there that need fixing but not a bad job at all. Pickers pick, sorters sort and load, drivers deliver to the hospital, repeat.
Pros
Raises for safety and production. Decent amount of vac days. Healthcare on day 1!!!
Cons
Weekends off would be nice but I understand the hospitals needs

Hardest part was learning and keeping track of all the new products being transitioned within the facility. Constant updates to system and new SKU numbers.
Pros
Team members and middle management were very much appreciated by senior management.
Cons
Very long hours daily, average 10 to 12 hours 6 days per week.

I enjoyed working at Owens & Minor, in California because the people were very warm and embracing. They were open to change and were willing to make adjustments in trying new things to get over old obstacles. They are a true work family.
