There seldom was a nice eight-hour day where everything was wrapped up one minute before scheduled out time. At busy times, we were frantic and still not meeting hold times due to obsolete technology (doing it singly and by hand) coupled with high sample volumes. Other days, we were so slow that, in theory, one person could take care of the whole lab's workload and be done by noon.
Hostile where all people try not to get into trouble. Fake it till you make it.
