You hit the floor running....hauling out freight by the pallet. The it's off to department or departments you have been assigned. From there you down stack and organize your items. I learned to organize by aisle and it's category. This way you have only one person down an aisle at a time. Alleviates congestion and allows the customer access to products while working.
Speed comes with familiarity with each department. The more you knew the more efficient an associate you became. Team work is key here and motivation with egos and attitudes. It can help people to learn compromise or create a tug of war depending on the personalities involved. Attitude and professionalism can be honed in this type of environment however the people have to be open minded.
It is a great workout and if possible creates lasting relationships.
As of late most hires were vastly lacking in an kind of work ethics.
