The Best Contracting Company in Southern California
I have had the pleasure of working for Pacific Coast Speech Services since I began my career as a Speech Language Pathologist. I moved to Southern California as a new CF and was both confused and scared as to how I would navigate this new career in a state I was unfamiliar with. I was hesitant choosing a contracting company in fear I would be treated as another SLP “filling in” the position and not receive the support I needed especially starting my new career. Boy was I wrong! PCSS made the process simple and easy and immediately treated me as though I had been with the company for years. The director of staffing took the time to know me as a person as well as take into account my strengths, weaknesses, preferences, and interests. I was first matched with a fabulous CFY mentor who was knowledgable, kind, professional, and most importantly always available. I was then given my CFY assignment in a public school, which accommodated my exact specifications. My first year as a SLP would not have gone as well as it did without PCSS. I felt more than supported by my PCSS team. I knew not one but multiple individuals who have experience in the field if I ran into any issues. Beginning my second year, I felt as though I had the knowledge and experience to take on (most of) anything! The director of staffing and I discussed widening my horizons and possibly choosing a different population than what I was used to, as I had only had experience in general education. Her suggestion to branch out was correct and I ended up loving medically fragile and SDC preschool classrooms! I would not have found which population I am truly passionate about without the help of PCSS. I feel as though my time spent with PCSS has strengthened my skillsets and molded me into a well rounded knowledgable clinician. I knew one of my first questions when I joined a contracting company was if the pay was comparable to that of Southern California school district. PCSS does offer competitive pay compared to a district job. The one con is that there aren’t as many benefits comparatively. That being said, PCSS does offer a $200 per month full time bonus which pays the majority of my health insurance. Additionally, PCSS does offer gradual raises during your CF year and raises for every year you are with the company. Finally, PCSS does offer approximately $600 per year for materials, ASHA dues, supplies, games, and activities (whatever you see fit). This $600 yearly has helped me tremendously in building my therapy room and materials. I believe one of PCSS’s many strengths are that the directors of the company are Speech Pathologists themselves. They have been in your shoes before and want the best for their employees. They are a relatively smaller contracting company which enables them to connect with staff personally and directly, rather than just behind a computer. My advice to any SLP looking for a contracting company in Southern California, please do not pass up this opportunity. You do not find an honest, supportive, and genuine contracting company like PCSS very often.

They uniquely and successfully place their clinicians in perfectly-tailored environments, matching the strengths of the speech language pathologist with the needs of the school site(s). This facilitates the clinician to thrive and the school to be well serviced. The Clinical Supervisor at PCSS has a keen leadership "touch" with a knack for respectful affirmation of the experienced clinician's professional judgment, yet completely accessible and open to insuring a healthy work/life balance by providing additional support during the inevitable high stress weeks of IEP meetings & assessments. Not only that, the owners of PCSS have built a team of highly qualified and exceptionally competent speech language pathologists, further supporting professional collaboration and growth in the day to day work environment. Additionally, PCSS offers the opportunity for supervisory positions, allowing a Speech Language Pathologist the privilege of passing the baton of this very special profession to the newest generation of clinicians. Overall, my time employed as an SLP in the school setting by PCSS provided exceptional job satisfaction in a setting notoriously stressful and overwhelming. I am personally very grateful for my five years with Pacific Coast Speech Services.
Clinical Fellow Speech-Language Pathologist in Riverside, CA

When I was looking for a clinical fellowship, my main priority was to find a company that provided me with extra supervision and support than the minimum required. I knew I wanted to work with PCSS because I always had the biggest smile on my face after speaking with the directors throughout the interview process, and that continues to this day. They are both extremely supportive, kind-hearted women who truly care about their employees. Throughout the hiring process, it was apparent to me that they considered my strengths and weaknesses and wanted to find the best site for me that would play to my strengths and also address the areas I wanted more support in. I had requested a certain population and I was pleased when I was matched with that population. My supervisor has been an encouraging and positive factor in my fellowship experience. She has given me so many helpful resources and suggestions which I know I’ll be able to utilize in the future. I met several other employees during the annual Christmas party, and it was apparent to me that they all have such high job satisfaction with the way they praised the company, their longevity as employees, and the camaraderie I observed between them. Although PCSS doesn’t offer health benefits, you do get a monthly stipend that you can use towards health insurance and they also reimburse you for your mileage and tolls, so that’s definitely a plus. You also get a stipend to use towards CEUs, materials, etc. Overall, wonderful company to work for during your CF and beyond. Thank you PCSS!

I chose to come to PCSS after talking with Louise and finding out about the amazing tier system they have for clinical fellows. Coming out of grad school, I was looking specifically for a company that would help support me as I transition as a professional in the field of speech pathology. My supervisor is available when I need her, but empowers me to find my own style as a speech pathologist. I have received so much support and clinical suggestions not only from my supervisor, but from the directors and other PCSS team members as well!

The management at PCSS has been honest, supportive, and approachable from the get-go. After moving across the country to start my clinical fellowship, I had a difficult time finding an employer who valued quality CF supervision as much as I did. This changed when I started communicating with PCSS. They matched me with my assignment after considering my areas of strength and the areas in which I wanted to improve/gain experience. When I started my job, I was guided through the (rather scary!) process of handling my first public school caseload thanks to my wonderful supervisor and management. Even though I've run into snags (as anyone else would!), there has never been a moment when I felt lost or unsupported. They really get to know and appreciate their clinicians and spend so much time supporting their clinicians in matters that would otherwise be very stressful and time-consuming to tackle alone. Having this support allowed me to focus my attention on improving my clinical skills and truly understanding my work environment. After completing my first school year of work, I feel so much more confident in my skills and I am ready to take on another year! Compensation is competitive and they are always on-time with pay. Sometimes I wish I were working alongside other SLPs on a day-to-day basis but this is the nature of the public school setting. I cannot name any reasonable complaints. This is a fantastic employer and I would not like to work in the public school setting in any context other than a PCSS contract. It's the best you can get in SoCal as a public school SLP.
