Great resources and work environment
Registered Dental Hygienist (Former Employee) - Lakewood, CO - March 1, 2023
Featured review
Pacific Dental Services selected this as a representative reviewLots of resources available for treating patients to the best of my ability. Resources like salivary diagnostics and laser for laser assisted perio treatment. Bonus structure is based on retention, not production so there’s no pressure to produce in order to bonus. Ownership over my schedule allows me to maximize my time in office treating patients.
Pros
Dental and medical benefits, the best resources available for treating patients and competitive compensation

Culture and Leadership is the Issue
Analyst (Current Employee) - Texas - October 2, 2023
Daily deadlines that are hard to meet because of sidebar issues and lack of scructure. I have learned more in my field than I thought I would, but have learned how culture can dictate your mood and performance. Management is a buddy club, that makes a point to belittle and bully, those that are not the flavor of the day. Hardest part of the job is dealing with the personalities of those in leadership, and the easiest is in dealing with colleagues and clients. The work itself is easy but the culture is based in the buddy system and bullying. I must also add that benefits are the worst I've seen outside of working contract.
Pros
Work is easy and pay is good
Cons
They don't truly care about their employees

Horrible
Traveling Orthodontic Assistant (Former Employee) - San Antonio, TX - September 28, 2023
Stay Away. This company will stress you out especially if you’re a travel specialty assistant. They don’t care about you and always short staffed. Doctors, managers, other DA’s who have been with the company are horrible.

Horrible culture poor work life balance. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Horrible to much politics and lack of knowledge. What is a typical day like for you at the company? Just sit at your desk no training or guidance

poor benefits and no work-life
Sr. Associate (Current Employee) - Henderson, NV - September 22, 2023
in the healthcare industry, they don't provide a good medical benefits package, and the management level never considers carefully on talent retention.

Worst place to work
Bad management, bad corporate culture. Not worth it staying longer than a few months. Toxic work environment. No support at all. Assistants talk about newly hired employees behind their backs. Only company I've ever worked for that gave me a very difficult time.

Hard work, results depend heavily on ownership
Regional Manager (Former Employee) - Ca - September 21, 2023
Great experience but not at all locations. Heavily dependent on your owners . Long hours and a lot of responsibilities including jumping in and step in as the manager

Working here was stressful
Dental Assistant (Former Employee) - North Decatur, GA - September 20, 2023
Being an assistant here the pay isn’t really livable. Management is quite literally horrible. They’re nice people who work here but this location isn’t the best. The main issue is management. They don’t care about you in the slightest
Pros
Nice coworkers
Cons
Short breaks, management is horrible

Lack of work/life balance
Accounting (Former Employee) - Irvine, CA - September 20, 2023
They try to give a work/life balance but with deadlines and always short staff it’s hard to have a good balance. Old school mentality that you have to work in office to get work done.

Schedules being changed last minute sometimes with out being told. Long 12+ shifts with no break. Throws untrained assistants into surgical environment without proper training making it unsafe for patient. Extreme lack of leadership. Jobs at Pacific Dental Services
Unethical, greedy, not professional, not patient care oriented
Registered Dental Hygienist Full-Time (Former Employee) - McKinney, TX - September 15, 2023
The office was dirty. Not enough time with your patients, Equipment is subpar, instruments if they are available, are not in good condition. Materials Needed To Actually Do Your Job...They either don't have or don't have the budget for. Lead assistant will dictate bad treatment based on what Materials are available for you to work with. Dirty rooms, rushed treatment, patients being shoveled into rooms with no intention to treat them well.
Pros
No lunch, not getting out on time, and being punished for the work, no overtime, so your schedule will be changed with out regards for the rest of the staff or your needs
Cons
Everything

Productive and fun place to work
RDH (Former Employee) - Rialto, CA - September 14, 2023
The owner doctor and all the associates whom I worked with at this location have been very supportive. The team members got along and therefore it made a fun and chill place to work with. Assistants always helped if I am running behind or have two patients. I liked working there!

September 18, 2023Thanks for your feedback! It's always great to hear about that teamwork in action!
Some of the Doctors are terrible.
Dental Assistant (Former Employee) - Travel - September 11, 2023
Some of the dentists and managers are so rude and terrible to work with that it made me leave dentistry all together. I went into the regular medical field after this.

Depends on who you work for
Registered Dental Hygienist (Former Employee) - Orange County, CA - September 9, 2023
A lot of offices will overwork you to death. More than 8 pts a day without proper support. If you’re lucky, you’ll find an office who actually cares and doesn’t push you to your limits. It’s honestly just a coin flip.

About as average as another corporate job, with less pay
Financial Analyst (Current Employee) - Irvine, CA - September 7, 2023
The benefits (dental insurance, vision insurance, 401k) are great, but the pay is below area average which is why I gave that 3 stars. Management is hit-or-miss and will make or break your experience at the company. I had a good manager that was invested in my success, but they left the company and now I have a manager who is only interested in schmoozing. The company touts a good work-life balance, but they turn around and say you aren't as dedicated as other employees if you take the time away from the office or don't stay late everyday. It feels like a culture of yes-men, and leadership hypes their brand too much (with management/director levels buying in).
Pros
great dental insurance
Cons
heavily christian culture, low pay

Doesn’t treat people well
Dental Assistant (Current Employee) - Fort Worth, TX - September 5, 2023
Some of the doctors can be creeps. Shifts are unreliable. There is minimal room for growth with managers breathing down your neck. They say they will pay for mileage, but it is low.

Money driven
Dental Office Manager (Former Employee) - Tomball, TX - September 4, 2023
PDS has a bad habit of over diagnosing in order to generate sales. This leads to managers/HCs having to provide treatment plans they do not believe in which leads to patient mistrust. Regional management does not train, or have your back. Promises are constantly made but no effort is given to you unless you are the top earners. Several of the Owner doctors (OD) do not have any respect for anyone but themselves. 2 sisters in particular own several offices and make it a habit of screaming at staff, including management, talking down to them, and forcing them to against moral and ethical standards. Wasn’t worth my soul to work there.

Horrible Company
Dental Assistant (Former Employee) - Westminster, CO - September 4, 2023
I worked at an office owned by PDS for about 6 months and it was the worse 6 months. This is your typical corporation even though they tell all their employees it’s different from others. The pay is very low here unless you have been at the company for 5+ years. They have no set time for lunches so you may not even get a lunch. The hours were horrible, I had 0 life outside of work because of the hours of the office. You are very unappreciated and all they care about is money. They also try and charge patients for so much extra stuff it’s insane and to have patients sit in the chair for hours and I mean 2-6 hours doing dental work. Overall run from this corporation. Don’t ever give the company your time and energy.
Pros
occasional bonuses
Cons
short/ to no break, low pay, long hours, rude staff/doctors, money hungry

Not worth your time
Regional Manager (Former Employee) - Boston, MA - August 24, 2023
Zero support for management or clinical staff. Unrealistic expectations for performance and unhealthy work/life balance. You can’t trust anyone you work with in this region.

Over worked, High turnover
Specialty Healthcare Coordinator (Former Employee) - Dallas, TX - August 24, 2023
My particular office went through 5 different operational and regional managers in a 10 month period. The staff also had high turnover, which is hidden by shifting to other offices.

Okay place to work. No growth remote
Eligibility Specialist (Current Employee) - Henderson, NV - August 21, 2023
Okay place to work. Growth is terrible if you work from home. Pay is decent and the actual job is okay. Management is iffy and play favorites for sure.
