Program Coordinator (Current Employee) –  Running Springs, CAJanuary 30, 2019
This is a great company if you are willing to work hard and push yourself to become a person that you really want to be. It is not easy, it is hard but it is the best thing I've ever done.

Minimum wage laws do not apply to this position.
Educator (Former Employee) –  Running Springs, CAJuly 19, 2018
Don’t waste your college degree working for such low pay. Middle management is constantly changing, but even if you are promoted you will be working for less than minimum wage.
The job can be incredibly stressful, especially with a very inexperienced management team and employees who are constantly burning out.
Pros
The people who work under these conditions are resilient and dedicated.
Cons
Inadequate time off. 90 minutes per day if you are staying overnight in a cabin with students.

Long days, working with children ages 8-18 in the mountains of southern California. Teaching Science, leadership, outdoor skills. Management is a well-oiled machine. Compassionate people looking to help and explore new alternatives to education.
Pros
free room and board, meals on campus Monday-Friday morning, great group of young and excited co-workers
Cons
Short brakes, lack of job advancement, extremely long hours

Registered Nurse (Former Employee) –  Running Springs, CAJanuary 3, 2017
If you want a super supportive staff you should work here. A lot of amenities are provided, such as food, housing, utilites, etc. You get most weekends off (with exception of 3 or 4) to go adventure around SoCal.

Great peer support and very intense work schedule
Outdoor Education Instructor (Former Employee) –  Running Springs, CAJuly 1, 2015
The hours are long and the impact on students is not always apparent. The co-workers are a wonderful group of people and the management is great to an extent. It is easy to jump in to the job and meet good people. The hardest part of the job is the rigorous weekly schedule. The instruction is the best portion of the job.

A beautiful campus with wonderful staff and a great philosophy
Outdoor Education Instructor and Counselor (Current Employee) –  Running Springs, CASeptember 13, 2013
A typical day at Pali ranges based on if you are in cabin or out of cabin.

If you are in cabin:
You are typically in charge of working with children grades 4-12th. You oversee children in the morning, during meals and at night. As well as you are expected to teach classes and assist with ropes and climbing elements.

If you are out of cabin:
You are typically in charge of working with children grades 4-12th. You are able to have more down time after meals. you are expected to teach classes and assist with ropes and climbing elements. After you are done you are able to leave for the night on an offsite house that is provided.

You will learn a variety of Science, Outdoor, Leadership, Night, and climbing activities that you will then teach to the children.

Management is very abundant at Pali. There are A LOT of supervisors ranging from the head instructor to program coordinators, to ropes directors, to school coordinators. It is a bit redundant and overwhelming at times.

The hardest part about this job is the long hours.

The most enjoyable part is working with students and broadening their horizons.
Pros
Free housing, Free Food, Bennefits
Cons
Long hours, Short Breaks

Great Location and Programming
Outdoor Education Instructor (Current Employee) –  Running Springs, CAMarch 31, 2012
The program and execution are well handled and you are trained for all courses and safety requirements. The only downside is the off site staff houses are crammed and breaks are too short compared to the length of days you work
