A beautiful campus with wonderful staff and a great philosophy
Outdoor Education Instructor and Counselor (Current Employee) – Running Springs, CA – September 13, 2013
A typical day at Pali ranges based on if you are in cabin or out of cabin.
If you are in cabin:
You are typically in charge of working with children grades 4-12th. You oversee children in the morning, during meals and at night. As well as you are expected to teach classes and assist with ropes and climbing elements.
If you are out of cabin:
You are typically in charge of working with children grades 4-12th. You are able to have more down time after meals. you are expected to teach classes and assist with ropes and climbing elements. After you are done you are able to leave for the night on an offsite house that is provided.
You will learn a variety of Science, Outdoor, Leadership, Night, and climbing activities that you will then teach to the children.
Management is very abundant at Pali. There are A LOT of supervisors ranging from the head instructor to program coordinators, to ropes directors, to school coordinators. It is a bit redundant and overwhelming at times.
The hardest part about this job is the long hours.
The most enjoyable part is working with students and broadening their horizons.
