It is surprising that a 100 year old company can be ran this terribly.
Tech (Current Employee) –  Sparks, NVMay 12, 2019
It is almost as if promotions are only given to people who align themselves with the right people or by failing upwards. It is rare to see anyone in a leadership role that has earned their spot by merit. This may seem like bellyaching but it is not. When someone is better at playing politics than actually doing the job they were hired to do, their lack of experience is put on display. This lack of experience reflects on the team they are on and reduces the credibility of everyone on that team.

The great thing about this toxic work environment and how panasonic is paying great wages is that all of the other companies in reno will have raised their wages because everyone went there thinking that it will be better.

That being said, If you are looking for a job and can ignore the negatives, can turn off your brain and just work, you can make some money and hopefully things change.

Done
Maintenance Technician (Former Employee) –  Sparks, NVApril 14, 2019
Parking is horrible. Being in a clean environment with hazardous materials isn't fun. On your feet for over 12 hours can wear you out while wearing safety toe shoes. Basic materials required to do your job are not always provided, yet your expected to produce numbers with substandard product. Lack of respect and empathy from upper management wears on the employee morale. Lack of proper training on the process floor generates alot of negativity towards the company, hence the high employee turnover ratio. Working with the Japanese was a valued experience. There work culture is totally different from the Americans. You don't ever want to bring shame to there work environment. A very prideful work ethnic. With a 70 percent employee turnover ratio per year they now have to scrap the bottom of the barrel for new hires. They now have drug sniffing dogs patrolling the campus. Its seems every week they implement new rules on the fly. Zero employee input and when that chance arises it takes forever for your suggestion to be implemented. If you are handling hazardous materials then you should be paid extra hazard pay.

Worst Company to Work For
SHIFT LEAD (Former Employee) –  Sparks, NVApril 3, 2019
By far the worst company culture I’ve worked at. Been in manufacturing 13 years and they do not care about their employees. Lots of discrimination, favoritism, and nepotism going on. Do not work there at all costs. The pay was decent but not worth your health and life.
Pros
Snacks, pay
Cons
Management, favoritism, discrimination, no room for promotion, lies

Re-consider Working Here
PRODUCTION ENGINEER - BATTERY CELL MANUFACTURING (Former Employee) –  Reno, NVSeptember 13, 2018
Reconsider working here if you have prior engineering experience!

- Japanese owned company (research their work culture before working for them)
- Poor management
- Cultural issues between japanese and americans
- Language barrier
- High volume manufacturing is very interesting
- The japanese engineers do all the real engineering work while the american engineers are left to do non value adding work
- Would not recommend to a friend

Biggest Start-up Ever!
QUALITY SYSTEM ENGINEER (Current Employee) –  Sparks, NVAugust 12, 2018
PENA at the Gigafactory is a dynamic, fast moving start-up with building construction, equipment installation and production happening simultaneously.
Due to the chaos and turnover, leadership development should be a primary focus of PENA's plans and culture.

Anode Line Mixing Machine Operator (Former Employee) –  Sparks, NVJuly 15, 2018
Good pay and benefits but the environment is unsafe at times and the culture is extremely poor. I've never seen a place with such a high turn-over rate.

Material Handler (Former Employee) –  Sparks, NV 89434June 6, 2018
Working at Panasonic of North America, I was able to express myself freely if I had any concerns and upper management always had their doors open to receive any suggestions on how to work more efficiently.

The culture was friendly and motivating and makes you want to push yourself beyond your limits and move up.

Production Engineer (Current Employee) –  Sparks, NVJune 1, 2018
As a start-up, there are a lot of things that are still being figured out, but the company is developing and has gotten me into a position to help set up my beginning career. There is plenty of job security, and a well enough culture to keep you busy.
Pros
Free cereal and some snacks
Cons
The drive, language barrier, and sometimes the long hours

Atlas Consulting
Recruiting Coordinator, HR (Current Employee) –  Reno, NVMarch 18, 2018
This is a contract company limited to Panasonic Energy of North America (PENA) in the Northern Nevada area. The benefits were not ideal and the employee system for logging hours for compensation was very poor. The communication from employer to employees was very poor as well. However, PENA has a very admirable culture and encourages a positive work environment.

Challenging and exciting workplace
M3 line manager (Current Employee) –  Reno, NVFebruary 4, 2018
Panasonic is a company looking to innovate and what they are doing at the gigafactory is something never attempted before. The sheer size of the facility and its projected output are incredible. The work is fast paced, and being a start up there are consonantly new challenges to overcome. It is a company that is always looking to the future and pushing it employees to give the best that they can. There are also many complimentary benefits that make breaks more enjoyable like free cereal and milk.
Pros
Free food, challenging work, positive work culture
Cons
