Managed licensing business and software development
Vice President Licensing (Former Employee) – Carlstadt, NJ – January 7, 2015
Responsible for all contract negotiations for use of Pantone intellectual property in 3rd party software (ex., Adobe, Corel) and color output devices (ex., Xerox, Ricoh). Part of senior management team providing corporate direction and strategies for company. Led effort to adopt Lean manufacturing precepts and principles on a company-wide basis. This required encouraging changes in employee behavior and as such was sometimes difficult in getting employees to adopt new thought processes and systems. While people are not always prone to accept change, it was important to me to communicate the positive aspects of change and the need to modify our processes.
The hardest yet the most enjoyable part of the job is managing a team of high achievers. It was most satisfying when we were able to advance and employee to a new position.
Good company with a great legacy and high profile name for design industries. Most of the associates are great people and nice to work with. Senior leadership was just ok as it was a challenge to developing relationships and establish clear communication due to the abundance of meetings and travel schedules. It wasn't clear at times the roles and responsibilities of fellow employees as there've been many departmental changes. Overall work-life balance is good depending on the department as some work longer hours than others. Benefits and PTO are very good. Unfortunately, there's a lack of corporate culture and sense of community.
Pantone started out excellent when it was a privately owned company, once it was sold to a larger corporation the atmosphere and morale of the workers declined due to the replacement ofmanagers with little to no knowledge of what we actually did there.
