Quality pay and training.. but that's about it.
Armed Security Officer (Current Employee) – Cleveland, OH – April 22, 2018
I came to Paragon Systems with high expectations. Like many security personnel, I came from a military background. I had left my unarmed position for this one, and was just caught off guard by the lack of respect that runs rampant within the company. Supervisors show zero respect for your personal life, and other officers show little respect for their peers. The Cleveland zone is gossip central, and other guards rat on and report other guards in a minute. There are some co-workers you can trust, but overall, I feel very insecure at my job.
I do my best to perform my job "by the book," but still am disappointed at the lack of respect PSO's receive from their supervisors, and from FPS (Federal Protective Service.) The money is great, but I really can't think of much that keeps many of us holding on.
At some posts, especially the AJC Federal Building, the employees who we are supposed to protect, don't even like us there. You are a punching bag for the public, at times. The new hires will receive the worst posts and the worst hours, without much regard for your personal lives. Management will tell you that you start out at part-time, but at the same time, have you work over 50 hours a week.
Just beware of these things before you take the job. It isn't all bad. But ask yourself, is the money worth it?
Quality pay, Quality training, Always hours available if you want them.
Hours starting out are bad, new hires receive the worst posts and very inconsistent schedules, constantly being disliked for doing your job.
