My Experience with Parent Petroleum

Indeed Featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
Parent Petroleum was a Great place to work until new Management stepped in. Seemed to care more for the newer Employees than the older more Experienced Employees. Pay scale wasn’t the best. I had been there almost ten years and didn’t make as much as a starting Driver at Corporate Headquarters.

It totally sucks under current management.

What is the best part of working at the company? Was family atmosphere but that is no longer the case now it's who you can stab in the back to make yourself look better,in which led to IDIOTS in charge who don't have a clue what they are doing. What is the most stressful part about working at the company?Working under unqualified bosses in wich there is too many of them and or those that think they are in charge. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? It sucks since P.C. and everything that goes along with it you can't joke with friends and other employees because someone will stab you in the back and next thing your in front of HR and terminated. What is a typical day like for you at the company?Plain and simple IT'S HARD TO SOAR LIKE AN EAGLE WHEN YOUF FLYING WITH A BUNCH OF BUZZARDS.

New Executive Changes For The Worse

It was a great company in it's heyday. New management came in and cleaned out all of the "old timers" with all of the experience and knowledge. Pay was terrible, I was given responsibilities to get out to sell...then was let go because I was not in the office every hour of every work day. I was let go via email, if that tells you anything.

They had a open door Daily job was the same. Always having a job to do. they were fair were open to change if a idea was good and would hear what you had to say.

Good people to work with and the atmosphere is friendly. The pay scale has historicly been below market but is being brought into line in recent years

Good people to work with and the atmosphere is friendly. The pay scale has historicly been below market but is being brought into line in recent years, a recent change in management and location has caused some turmoil in the stability of the company.

Not a good company

Management is awful. Family owned Business, It’s grown so much that family feeling has disappeared from there. You can’t stand up to Managers when they are treating others inappropriately.

Interesting work but you are a dog

The work, and industry, Parent participates in is a very enriching and fun industry that is always throwing new challenges your way. Management make their mind up before weighing the effectiveness or approach of launching internal or external programs.

Perfect atmosphere and perfect start for freshers

As a fresher i had an amazing experience with the company. The It department were moving from their old legacy systems which was a good improvement to the company

Unique and fast paced work environment

A great company to work for. They reward hard work and listen to new ideas. Wither you wish to be a part of the gas station franchise, one of two restaurant chains or the new venture a craft beer and liquor emporium.

Friendly, diverse staff

Scheduling is consistent. Team is understaffed. Oppurtunity for career advancement is limited.

Terrible Management

Not too long ago I had lost my baby brother, and while working for parent petroleum's gas station. I was working 5 days a week, overnights, making just above minimum wage. I requested a leave of absence with an unknown time frame to be with my family, I kept my manager updated every week, I was gone a total of 3 weeks, I informed management that I was returning well in advance, and not only did they not get me back to work within that timeframe, they hired someone to replace me permanently and they came up with ludicrous reasons as to why I shouldn't have my old hours back, IE bad customer service when I've never been looked at funny by customers unless there's a problem with the coffee. They dropped my hours to 16 a week from 40, screwed me over when I tried to get unemployment due to my loss of wages, and just generally stopped caring about our needs as employees.

Pros

Free Lunch due to Overnight shift

Cons

Management, co-workers, the company as a whole.
