Stressful underpaid
SUPERVISOR (Current Employee) - Nashville, TN - November 3, 2023
Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedHate it bad culture and even worse pay. Culture of juat showing up should be good enough while hard workers get more work and no praise. Complainers and lazy people get it easy.

Work/Life needs improvement
Med Tech (Current Employee) - Nashville, TN - October 22, 2023
OT is always offered bc they are always understaffed. Benefits need improvement. Work/life balance is not great. Management always need people to cover extra shifts bc of short staffing but won’t volunteer their time to cover any shifts. Shift diff isn’t great and you end up being forced to rotate weekends even though you didn’t sign on to work weekends. If staffing is adequate then you may only have to work 1 holiday which is nice. Ultimately they have too many people pointing fingers and not enough people that can actually do the work.

Do not even think about working here.
Physician (Former Employee) - Nashville, TN - October 5, 2023
Typical day at work is getting my slides early in the morning. PathGroup does have some good systems. These include IT, couriers and histology/immunohistochemistry. No issues with getting recuts or stains in a timely manner. There is definitely plenty of work at PathGroup. That is about all that is good about PathGroup. Involvement by Nashville is non-existent. PathGroup operates as a franchise, not a corporation. Your experience will highly depend on your franchise owner and hospital you are at. From my experience the relationships of the “physician leaders” is one of distrust, no communication and avoidance. There is no “we” at PathGroup. There is no team. There is no corporate culture. It is just you, yourself and I. No one has anyone’s back. There isn’t a back stabbing environment. It is an environment of indifference. You wonder who is in charge? Who is the boss? Who owns this place? If you are a pathologist with 10 plus years of experience, have been around and are offered a leadership position it is a great opportunity. If you are a new pathologist do not even consider any offers from this “company.” Everything online posted about PathGroup is indeed true. Honestly any pathologist who is above average does not belong at PathGroup. If you have a high level of integrity and dedication to patient care PathGroup is not for you. You have to be the type of person “to look the other way” when it comes to what you will see at PathGroup. As an internationally well known pathologist said best, PathGroup is good for small hospitals.” Think deep about that before becoming -
Pros
Competitive pay. Some good systems.
Cons
Poor to non-existent leadership. Not clear who is charge. Antiquated systems.

MicroManaging
Accessioner (Current Employee) - Nashville, TN - September 24, 2023
Company is alright but they definitely micromanage you. They have cameras everywhere and won’t hesitate to write you up. No bonuses are given. Some Supervisors do have favorites. On the bright side, holidays are paid for by the company.

Excellent Workplace
Phlebotomist (Current Employee) - Nashville, TN - September 15, 2023
I have been with PathGroup for 10+ years. It's been a great company and if you work with them, they will work with you. Always room for improvement, but overall it has been a great experience.

Love the office they placed me in but don’t care too much for Pathgroup
Phlebotomist (Current Employee) - North Carolina - September 14, 2023
The office they placed me in has a wonderful staff they look out for me more than Pathgroup does! It’s so hard to take time off you will really get burnt out and over work your body! My client tries their best to try and help me out whenever I need but that’s not their responsibility they have their own job to tend to. If you need time off you literally have to call in sick. Yiu have a lot of vacation time that you can never use.
Pros
Cool office
Cons
Short stuff not able to take time off

Opportunity for growth
Phlebotomy Group Lead (Current Employee) - Tennessee - August 21, 2023
They work with their employees and help them grow and develop within the company. I have been able to work hard and promote from IOP to floater and now I am a Group Lead. I have a Supervisor and manager that is always willing to help no matter what. The work place is diverse and that is so nice to see. The management at Pathgroup cares about their employees and it shows.
Pros
Opportunity for growth
Cons
Health benefits are high like other companies.

Dont plan to have a life if you want to work here
Phlebotomist (Current Employee) - Johns Creek, GA - August 20, 2023
If you want to have a job where there is a decent work/life balance, pathgroup in ATL is not for you. You will always be short staffed and over worked. They dont pay as much as they should especially for the way the float you to different locations 2 hours before you are to clock in. I was in a Drs office that held 12 providers and there were only 2 phlebs. Your scheduled time is never correct; for example if you are hired to work 8-5, you wont leave until 6:30. There is also no OT so you will have to take a longer break OR come in later than you normally would as to stay under 40 hours. The steps involved in the process is also extravagantly long and doesn't make sense or match with the amount of time and the amount of work we are tasked with.
Pros
its a job.
Cons
little or no break, never off on time, short staffed

Excellent place to work. Atmosphere is compfortable
Phlebotomist (Former Employee) - Blacksburg VA - August 5, 2023
I had a positive experience. Everyone from management was very helpful when needed. I never had any issues. They were always supportive. The account in which I worked was WONDERFUL. The Doctor AND staff was excellent to work with. There was no drama in that office, everyone was a team player. The Doctor was PHENOMINAL!!! The only issue that I had was not getting a full 40 hour work week. And its understandable since you are there for the account holder and meeting their needs. I abosolutely LOVED going to work on a daily basis. I never missed work. No problem getting vacation time, as long as it was an advance notice.
Pros
Depending on the account holder
Cons
higher wages to compensate minimal hours

Mostly fine, but low pay scale
Phlebotomist (Former Employee) - Sandy Springs, GA - August 4, 2023
Most phlebotomist that perform well don't receive the compensation that they deserve. You wont find the pay you're looking for here. Management was fine, and tried to do what they could to help. Good instruction and the labor load wasn't unmanageable, but ultimately, it's hard to imagine working somewhere all week long and not earning enough to cover a single bedroom apartment.

Poor Management skills. Gossip about new employees and managers take part in the Gossip.
Pathology support (Former Employee) - Nashville, TN - August 1, 2023
Your day starts out working with people who hate their jobs including management. Working in the pathology lab the work is not the problem the BS from the co workers is the problem. They continue to run away new workers so that they can get overtime time hours and incentive pay. Nothing will change with this company until they clean house. People are quitting on a daily basis. Stay away from this place...
Pros
Pay is ok
Cons
Short breaks. Work place clicks. Lack of training from Management

Look somewhere other than pathgroup
Phlebotomist (Current Employee) - Ohio - July 19, 2023
Management is terrible and you never are aloud to use pto. For 9 straight months I had to constantly reschedule my appoints with dentist and doctors because they didn’t have coverage. ALWAYS SHORT STAFFED. I’ve been here for almost a year and have been through 3 team leads and 3 supervisors. People in this company drop like flies.

Poor management
Hematology Clinical Lab Assistant (Current Employee) - Nashville, TN - July 12, 2023
The biggest complaint I have with this company is management. Across all departments, management is seen as disrespectful, dismissive, and degrading. The turnaround time is awful here because of it. People leave in waves. We get short staffed. They over-staff, and then more leave. Management will also ignore rules set in place, but you would be in trouble or even fired for the same thing.
Pros
Nice break rooms, food trucks, over time, holiday pay
Cons
Short breaks, poor management, on your feet, inconsistent training

Ok place to work, Management disconnected
Accessioner (Current Employee) - Nashville, TN - June 6, 2023
I have worked for them for several years and have seen many changes, especially since 2016. The focus has shifted to doing more with less, i.e. making that money. The management is very disconnected, upper management with making money and bonuses and middle management tends to be incompetent at best.

PathGroup Management Team
Phlebotomy Supervisor (Former Employee) - Atlanta, GA - May 9, 2023
While I was a Supervisor. I did not feel supported by the manager. Very “clicking” and extreme childish behavior by management. People were only promoted based on who they were friends with, not based on your work performance. If you spoke up about it, you were reprimanded by your manager.
Pros
The phlebotomy team
Cons
Poor management

Ok job
Phlebotomist Float (Former Employee) - Marietta, GA - May 9, 2023
My experience was ok with pathgroup. There were some good accounts. The problem is the turnover rate, high benefits, horrible managers. Also for the worker that never calls out. It’s hard to get anytime off when life happens, if you do you are made to feel horrible and blamed for issues of other workers. It’s a very clicky employment place, management plays favorites. If your not a favorite, you are a problem.
Pros
Lunches
Cons
Very short staffed

Some cool coworkers, but not worth the headache pathgroup will cause
Lab Assistant (Former Employee) - Nashville, TN - April 22, 2023
Overworked and Underpaid. It seems like it’s getting worse by the day. Every day there is something new that will make you job harder. You also get blamed for everything so make sure you’re PERFECT.

No communication, no trust, and no future
Former employee (Current Employee) - Brentwood, TN - April 19, 2023
This company used to stand for something, but changes over the last few years have all been negative. Leadership treats everyone like a number, not an employee. There is no appreciation for employee hard work. There is no communication about anything going on in the company. You will find out that senior leaders are gone through an out of office response on their email. No direction in anything. All decisions are made in total secrecy and then blasted out in a generic email that gives no reasoning or logical explanation. It is very difficult for anyone to feel any sense of trust towards their leaders, as they feel as if they are being lied to, or at least having the truth intentionally withheld.
Pros
Co-workers who care and want to succeed despite poor leadership
Cons
Leadership you can't trust, changing values and principles, employees are not appreciated, constantly looking over your shoulder to see if some new drastic change is going to occur

Pros
one hour lunc
Cons
pay
