Working for PB Disaster Services was definitely an amazing place to work for. A typical day consisted of receiving an application through the internet on a FEMA approved computer. Inspector then called applicant and made an appointment to visit the home with related storm damages. Mapping the trips on the FEMA computer and getting to the disaster residence at the specified time. Making personal contact with the applicant and listening to their questions and concerns. Being empathetic is a must in these kinds of situations. Measuring the residence and all disaster related issues to be able to ascertain a dollar amount of damage. Taking pictures of all the related disaster issues and uploading reports along with the pictures to FEMA for a final determination. The management along with the help desk were always available to the inspectors. I truly enjoyed my job. Being able to travel and not be in the same place on a day to day basis and being able to help people at their worst time was the most rewarding.
