cosmetology student (Former Employee) – Ames, IA – October 4, 2013
a typical day working at pci is very energetic and face paced. i handled 5 to 7 clients per day and 1 hour and 30 mins apart usually. ive learned so much because its a trade school where i studied cosmetology. my co workers were also students and they embarked on the learn as you go way of things. the hardest part of the job was not getting paid for it. the most enjoyable part was that i really got to know my clients and established long lasting friendships.

Will dangle the carrot in front of you then snatch it from you just when you think you're getting it. Literal sabotage and cattiness, petty childish behavior, "mean girl" atmosphere. Try to brainwash to their "culture". Very demanding, those successful there are married to PCI and have no life. Seniority rules, coworkers on same level will micromanage down to getting in trouble for not asking to use the restroom. Ask way more effort and time to commit and do your job but will not compensate you accordingly. Be prepared to do much of your work on you own time unpaid.

Educators are treated like slaves...over worked, demeaned and under valued. Very demanding and dishonest management. Brainwashing of inexperienced new hires to lie in order to sell products/services and a lot of pressure to do so. Very cult like environment. Don't drink the Kool Aid!! Better yet, don't bother working there. They really don't want talented and intelligent educators with brilliant ideas,. they want people they can control and manipulate.

I loved working for PCI, as well as being a student there. It is a very fun, energetic, and rewarding place to work. You never know whats in store for the day but there is always an awesome team to back you up.
