Overworked and Underpaid
Veterinary Assistant (Former Employee) - Rainbow City, AL - August 30, 2023
Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedThe clinic itself isn’t bad the doctors and staff are amazing to work with. It’s the corporation that’s the problem extremely overworked and underpaid.

Out of touch with reality
RVT (Current Employee) - Colorado - September 5, 2023
PetVet is out of touch with reality. They tell you they will give you a pay increase once you receive your credentials but that is not the case. Been waiting over a month and they are flat out ignoring me. They only care about their money and not everyone else. Hospitals are falling apart with no staff but they won't pay us a livable wage. They're up there with their millions while the rest of us are choosing between a roof over our head and food. I'm being forced to leave the specialty I love and do so well in to find a better paying job in order to provide for my family.
Pros
Free antech lab work
Cons
Cheap pay, greedy, liars

Underpaid and overworked
ER Veterinary Technician (Current Employee) - Denver, CO - September 4, 2023
I do not recommend working for any PVCC hospital. They do not pay livable wages, nor do they give raises. They rarely replace/repair broken equipment. They’re only focused on putting money in their pockets, not sharing the wealth with the employees who have made them successful. They’re frequently raising the cost of services for clients. The turnover rate for management within their hospitals is high due to how difficult it is to work with upper management of PVCC.
Pros
None
Cons
Underpaid, overworked

Simply toxic and the worst culture you can imagine
Operations Manager (Current Employee) - San Francisco Bay Area, CA - August 28, 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? Very talented and passionate clinical team at local hospitals What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Senior Management at the corporate offices do not know how to inspire and lead teams. Top down management. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Local offices work mon stop to provide the best quality care while management is trying to squeeze every last penny. Cost cutting is unrealistic and employees are fleeing for better pay at all levels What is a typical day like for you at the company? Stressed. DO ore with less. The strong leaders all left. We have the flunkies that non one else wants. Regional managers focused more on their social media than local staff. Don't believe what you see on posts.

Management is terrible
Veterinary Assistant (Current Employee) - Visalia, CA - July 24, 2023
They do not act professionally, favoritism is very obvious. The whole company does not care about its employees, they are the ONLY veterinary ER in the area that DOES NOT pay night time/weekend difference.

There are better places to work, don’t settle for this.
Veterinary Receptionist (Former Employee) - Ypsilanti, MI - June 21, 2023
would not recommend working at this hospital especially if you are new to the veterinary field and want to learn and grow in this field, your time is better spent elsewhere. There's no management, you can be late everyday, call out, or just not do your job and nothing will happen to you. There's no training and team members are very mean to one another. Pay is very low and there are no lunch breaks. Medical practices are questionable and patient care is neglectful. They are more concerned with making a profit then client service/patient care/team building. There are so many things that could be fixed to make it a better environment for employees, clients and especially pets but it will never happen, this hospital has so much potential that is literally flushed down the toilet daily. Don’t waste your time.
Pros
Portal offers more help than staff ever will.
Cons
Racist staff, no training, zero career advancements, no options for overtime, Underpaid.

Great Coworkers
Veterinary Assistant/Receptionist (Former Employee) - Colonial Park, PA - May 24, 2023
The job was stressful but it’s your coworkers who make the job. Loved everyone while I was there and it was hard to leave. However it’s corporate so they don’t really care about you.

High stress environment for strong motivated people who can work with no breaks
All positions (Former Employee) - Lacey, WA - May 20, 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? The best parts were a few coworkers and all the animals What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Every part of working at this company is stressful. People get put on reception shifts all alone and night staff is bare bones for the whole building. People get thrown into work without finishing training. 9 hours shifts and no breaks is terrible for anyone to deal with. Management says they’re always there to help but only work in the building a few days a week. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Most people I worked with were nice. There was occasional free food. Lots of confusion with so many people working different overlapping shifts. People are stressed almost all the time. What is a typical day like for you at the company? Busy and stressful every day. Tons of calls, the phone rings constantly.

Horrible pay, horrible raises, if any, under staffed and over worked
Floating Assistant (Current Employee) - Los Angeles, CA - May 19, 2023
This company does not provide competitive pay. The raises are barely there, if at all. They over work you by cutting staff in half. The benefits for employee pets are a joke. Seriously the worst veterinary company I’ve ever worked for.
Pros
I can’t think of any
Cons
Overworked and under paid.

Stay away
Receptionist (Former Employee) - Little Rock, AR - May 18, 2023
This corporation does not care for their employees. We have not been able to keep a manager for very long thanks to corporate. I recommend you stay away from the location in Little Rock, Arkansas as they will treat you like you're replaceable.

Jobs at PetVet Care Centers
Understaff and not enough pay
Veterinary Assistant (Current Employee) - Murfreesboro, TN - April 30, 2023
Learned lots but, got paid too little. Good experience to learn but, get ready to learn fast and work hard since understaffing causes issues. Some co-workers can be judgmental when comes to beginners.

Understaffed
Veterinarian (Current Employee) - San Diego County, CA - April 26, 2023
Understaffed is an overstatement for what I am dealing with at my current hospital. The upper management do not listen to pleas for help, despite the understaffing directly affecting business and revenue.

Bad
Veterinary Assistant (Former Employee) - New Hope, MN - March 29, 2023
Pet vet has absolutely no idea what goes on in the clinics they own. They understaff, underpay, and underbudget their clinics while continuously upping their rates to customers.

Unprofessional more concerned about wealth
Hospital Manager (Former Employee) - Queens, NY - March 6, 2023
I worked at my previous veterinary office for 15 years. The owners decided to sell their practice to Petvet in 2019 and everything went down hill from there. As soon as they acquired us they changed all polocies and implemented policies that would only generate them more money. The staff was over worked and under paid. The company only reahced out to the office if our numbers were lower than the week before. They were horrible at paying their outstanding bills causing the hospital to deal with inadequate supplies. Regional managers would not assist office managers when needed. We noticed many of their employees resinging without notice. This company is more concrened about taking over small veterinary companies, charging clients top dollar for services, mistreating and underpaying their employees. Stay away from this company.
Cons
NO breaks, no bonuses, very little compensation, unprofessional

Poor management and pay
Receptionist/Veterinarian Technician/veterinarian assistant (Former Employee) - Fremont, CA - March 1, 2023
I got paid less than. Minimum wage to preform multiple duties. They don't care about performance, they don't care about employees. All the care about is $$$. I left and I have not received a w2 and there is no way to get a hold of them.
Pros
Free vet visits for pet
Cons
No breaks/lunches. Poor pay. No management. No structure

Management doesn’t value employees
Hospital Manager (Current Employee) - Los Angeles, CA - February 19, 2023
Management doesn’t value existing employees, feedback is always negative, inconsistent Regional Managers, no support provided only criticisms. Prices increased several times but support staff not raised to match incoming new applicants. HR support non existent

High turnover rate, Poor Communication,
CVT (Current Employee) - Illinois - February 13, 2023
The amount of turn over is outrageous. On a weekly basis clients made comments about how they never see the same doctor or supporting staff. Staff is never fully trained and it looks highly unprofessional to clients. Speaking with HR is awful. It takes days for them to call you back then its just excuse after excuse.

Great coworkers, veterinarians, and management!
Veterinary Assistant (Former Employee) - Houma, LA - February 11, 2023
Working as a Veterinary Assistant at Marcello Veterinary Hospital was one of the best jobs I’ve ever had thus far! Everyone I worked with was outstanding and the doctors are incredible.

Not Great
Anonymous (Former Employee) - Anonymous - January 30, 2023
Not Great. Always issues with paying doctors, payroll corrections. Always issues with paying bills so services are cut off. Can't trust management at any level - they think things are jolly but have no clue what it's actually like in the hospitals.

Great and first then quickly goes down hill
Veterinary Assistant/Receptionist (Current Employee) - Valencia, CA - January 26, 2023
Very hostile company. Hospital managers, district managers and assistant managers are in constant changing cycle. Any concerns or complaints get brushed off saying there is nothing they can do. It's impossible to get HR involved. Rules and regulations are constantly being changed and each hospital is diffrent with no conistantsy. They do not care about customers or employees. Prices rise every month and drive customers away. Because of this there is no business and they cut employee hours. Pay for employees is inconsistent. Sometimes a resptionist will get paid more than an Vet assistant with years of experience. Working with this company has me constantly fearful of my job and wondering what will happen tomorrow. After talking to other facility's of the same company they are all in bad shape. I would stay away
Pros
Free snacks and hour lunch
Cons
No overtime, short staffed, no consistency, bad management
