Worked here since I was 16. Made me want to become a vet

Love the doctors and staff. Love working with pets. I've learned a ton about how a good vet practice should be run as well. Working here inspired me to go to school to become a DVM.

Pros

Great facility. Provide free snack food everyday. Great managers

Culture

The culture was mean girls status. I did enjoy working there but if you got on the wrong side of the mean girls you would hate it and they would make you hate it.

Pros

Hours at the tome was good

Cons

Coworkers being mean girls

Fast paced, good team, good management, HR will sabotage you and keep you where they want so they don’t have to move your position or give you a raise

The Doctors are all wonderful, very kind and easy to get along with. The team is great, the managers are wonderful. Unfortunately the company has become more corporate like lately and have not kept up with inflation as far as fair compensation. Their benefits are sorely lacking and they are lessening them even more. Their standard of patient care could definitely be better. The Hospital Aide position is awful. They tell you it’s a good starting point and you can work your way up but they will keep you in that position so they can make you do whatever they want you to and they can cap your rate. I think if you’re looking for a good fast paced desk job it’s good but there’s nowhere to advance in that position. Just twice a year 4% or less raises and accrued PTO (which they will take from your last paycheck when you quit if they deem it “unearned”) sketchy wording in the employee agreement. As a technician I think it’s a relatively good job but again, they will keep you from advancing up. They will also be super kind and considerate about work life balance and time off until they throw it in your face next time you ask about getting trained up or anything. I absolutely loved my time there, but when I tried to get more pushy about getting trained up it all crashed and burned. I was absolutely crushed about it. Felt like I wasted my time, but truly I miss the Doctors and staff and management. They were all amazing people.

Pros

Good hours, not overworked, massive employee discount, amazing work environment, great management.

Cons

Bad pay, shabby benefits, little to no advancement opportunity (they will not let you.)

Our PetWow Doctors, Team, and Managers ARE wonderful! While we are growing with customer demand, we strive to continue to cultivate an enjoyable work culture and reward our team members with great pay, benefits, and perks to match. We are always adding to our offerings to provide rich resources and incentives for our team to stay and grow with us.We pride ourselves in the care provided to all our patients, and our reviews substantiate that care and compassion. We are sorry to hear that you did not enjoy the Hospital Aide role. It is an entry level position that requires dedication to learning all aspects of pet care from sanitary duties to assisting our technicians in surgery. Most of our current tech team started their careers in the Hospital Aide role, ensuring their proficiency in the most basic of pet needs and developing the highest skillsets to care for our pet patients. The honorary promotion to technician takes not only self-motivation and time, but approval from Doctors and the Managerial Team. PetWow wants nothing more than to have long-standing team members who develop and succeed! The educational and earning potential is expansive!PetWow nurtures a work-life balance and encourages all team members to utilize their valuable time off. We are transparent in all policies, which each team member must sign their acknowledgement of. PTO is earned, so if you leave, clearly stated policy is that you will owe back PTO taken that has not yet been accrued. We hope that you find a career that you are best suited for and wish you the best.

Great practice

I have worked for several practices for the last 10 years. This was the best one. This is a fast paced environment, which I loved. The technicians are knowledgeable and work great under pressure. If I didn't have to move I would still be there. The manager and doctors treat you like family and actually care. You will make life long friends here and will enjoy the work.

Very pleased with the job and atmosphere.

All the staff I worked with were kind and understanding. When I was a new hire I was a little slow getting used to how everything worked. Despite this my fellow employees were very patient and helpful. Whenever problems did come up the manager was very quick to respond and I really appreciated that. If you love pets and good people I highly recommend this job.

Its not bad

The managers are nice, I mostly work it as a side job but its good. I clean up and the work can be hard but I am paid fairly for the work I do. Managers are reasonable and they'll never put to much stress on you.

Great place to work!

I worked here for 10 years until I got a different job in another field. It's tough, but rewarding work. There's opportunity to learn many different aspects of pet care; anything from grooming, customer service, or veterinary roles there is plenty to learn. This is a family business that is growing and excited about it. Management is awesome. Most the roles at PetWow require alot of hard work, so dont expect an easy job! It's just the nature of this industry. Everybody works hard and does their very best to serve the animals and customers needs. I made many many memories here and still stop in to say hi when I can. Amazing place to work if your looking to work at an animal hospital!

The best team!!

I worked at PetWow for 5+ years, filling various positions from the grooming department, CSR and vet tech assistant! PetWow brought me in as not just an employee, but as a family! I've made long lasting friendships and acquired life long skills! I was so fortunate to work with some of the most caring, educated, calculated, compassionate and skilled veterinary medical staff out there. It was a high volume, fast paced work environment but the amount of attention and kindness administered to each pet never ceased to amaze me. The staff gave personalized care to not only the patients but their owners as well! I was also fortunate to have the opportunity to form friendships with the customers, some of which I still see out and about! The management/ownership treated me with respect, as an individual and gave me nothing but encouragement. You can tell it's a family owned business by the way they value their employees! Here, you're not a number, they care about your well being as well as your happiness. The doctors are just... Amazing. My own pet had some medical issues which turned out to be a chronic condition and they still check in on her.. And it's been almost 2 years! Long story short... I highly recommend this work experience. I learned communication skills, crisis management and became a part of a family! I decided to pursue a different career option, but I love and miss you guys!

Great Doctor Team

Great doctor team who cares about their patients and are very kind and supportive of their technicians. I worked here in various roles for several years, working through being a Grooming Assistant to doing various jobs as a Veterinary Assistant. I worked with the doctors seeing exam rooms, assisting in surgery and working on the mobile units. Working on the mobile units is a great gig - you get one on one time with the doctor, so it's easy to learn and you get to see pets in an environment that they are comfortable in. You get a chance to work in surgery with one of the practice owners which gives you a chance to learn a lot - they work with several area rescues, so some of the cases are really interesting. It is also satisfying to get to be part of helping these pets find new homes.

Awful

They talk down to you and make you feel stupid and not good enough to be there when their own head tech dont even know basic things like "bevel up". Not up to ANY medical standards. Leaves multiple patients in surgery unattended while the doctor does surgery like hes on a line in a factory. So if a patient crashed they wouldn't even know right away. Nor do they stay with them in recovery until the tube is out. I was forced to walk away from while tubes were still in. Multiple pets were in sh**** cages and left that way. I got yelled at multiple times for trying to clean the sh** cuz I was taking too long putting the pet back in its cage and was told to leave the sh** and put it in there (with a fresh surgery incision). Also seen employees dragging dogs down the stairs into the kennels or grooming. Including older dogs with arthritis that couldn't walk down them. My heart broke there they way the patients were treated. Managers are too blinded to even notice these things nor do they listen to the concerns of new people when they bring these things up. I work somewhere else that’s great and stays with patients the entire time during surgeries and recovery. I tell all the clients that take their dogs there for grooming the horrible things I saw and not to go there. They also train employees with no other prior experience or schooling over the ones with schooling and experience because they are in their clique. A horrible place to work and horrible place to bring your fur babies.

We are saddened to see this kind of feedback from someone we are certain has either the wrong company or who is disgruntled, seemingly trying to paint an unfair and unjust review of our company. We have been selected by one of the largest rescue groups in the nation for vetting. Because of this, we are very busy. Our staff is well-trained, highly skilled, and passionate in their detail. Never is an anesthetized pet left without multiple individuals monitoring their recovery and well-being from sedation to fully awake. Furthermore, because pets will soil cages, our patients are checked throughout their stay for cleanliness and are walked and rotated on a regular basis. Never would we intentionally allow a pet to remain in dirty quarters. Petwow has stringent protocol in place to ensure the utmost safety of each and every pet under our care, whether it be a rescue or client pet. 50 years of practice, 7 veterinarians, staff who choose to remain part of our team for years, and tens of thousands of happy customers reflect the compassion we have for every patient we are honored to serve.

Grooming

Groomers are hired at an hourly pay. Generally pay no more than $15 an hour. If you are lucky enough to get more then your time there will be short lived. Most groomers work on commission. This company makes a lot of money and the groomers make minimal for their work.

We are disheartened to see a comment like this from a former team member; especially as it contains information that is factually untrue. Our pay rate for professional pet groomers goes much higher than $15.00/hour. In fact, pay almost always STARTS significantly higher than $15.00/hr. The only time someone would *start* at that rate is if their prior experience was limited and/or their proficiency needed development. Once those concerns are resolved, pay can and does go up rapidly.Nor is it true that groomers only stay short-term. We have groomers who have been with us 19 years, 11 years, 9 years, 6 years, etc!Why the long-term stays? Because, all things considered, the overall pay and benefits situation is very good and, in fact, preferred by many groomers over the-hit-and-miss realities of commission-based grooming.Importantly, we have steady hours through most of the year! We are a busy company providing both grooming and veterinary care, so there is a constant stream of work and hours available. We often hire groomers who want to leave the world of commission-based grooming because of how unreliable the work volume, and therefore the income, can be.And consider the benefits (that often are absent on a commission basis). . . .-No self-employment taxes: we pay the matching SS & FICA-Up to Two Weeks Paid Vacation-Up to 4 Paid Sick Days-Paid Holiday-Matching Retirement Plan-Health Insurance Stipend-$200.00/year Continuing Education Stipend-We pay for Professional Liability Insurance-Paid Shoes and Uniform-100% Paid Long Term Disability- and moreWe know -

Amazing company that treats you like family

I was not with this company long, as I was unexpectedly offered an apprenticeship at a high end grooming salon and that was my career path. However, even being there a short time, I am so sad to be leaving. Everyone, and I mean everyone, is so welcoming, kind, fun and helpful. It is like a big family, truly. There’s never a boring moment, at least in the time I’ve been there. Very quick paced and possibilities to cross train in other areas once you’ve been there for a bit. I would recommend anyone looking at this company for employment!

Pros

Friendly staff, fast paced, work-life balance, off Sundays

Cons

Great people and great place to be.

Work culture is decent, there can he a little to much drama sometimes, but it is usually ironed out quickly. Good place to start, but may find it difficult to make it a career for the long term. Starting pay is good, but falls to a lower side often for the amount of time and dedication that some may give the company. In other words they could do a better job of taking care of the employees that have been long term staples financially, but the schedule and their willingness to work around family and life compensate a little bit for the lack there of.

Pros

Great people, direct contact with managers and officers. Great experience to work in this field.

Cons

Pay for longer term employees. Can be Stressful at times. Both from internal and external pressures.
