Worst job ever
Operator (Former Employee) –  Venice, FLApril 20, 2019
This was the worst job I’ve ever had. Promised raises that never came. You are rated on how well you suck up , not performance. Incompetent people hired to fill spots; always short staffed. Company worries about unattainable goals , not their staff.
Pros
Inspired me to find a better job
Cons
Sweat shop, treated like slaves

Change is not always good!
Employee (Current Employee) –  VeniceFebruary 15, 2019
FAMILY FIRST??? Yeah right!

Leadership and managers will repeatedly say that change is good! Personally speaking, I agree with that completely. Though not when the changes impact EVERYONE.

The company has never offered Sick Time to its employees. When an employee is sick and had to be out of work for a day, we were able to use our personal time to cover the loss in pay for that day. The company does not pay well enough to not allow employees to work from paycheck to paycheck, so years ago the company had a policy to allow employee use their personal time as sicktime.

2019, the company changed their attendence policy to not allow personal time to be used if an employee needs to call in sick of a day. Since the company does not provide sicktime, if an employee has a family emergency, or is sick and can not come into work - the employee losses a days pay.

Employees are encouraged to ask questions, when questions are asked to why the company has made this decision. The answer in return is "it's what other companies are doing". Shortly after the start of 2018, leadership announced they want to become the "employer of choice" in the area. The statements they make compaired to their actions and decisions conflict, which makes PGT Innovations (aka: PGT Industries) a troubling place to work - especially if you hope to make a career of working with PGT

PGT Management & Policy
Technician (Former Employee) –  North Venice, FLNovember 9, 2018
This company is just, speechless. If you plan on buying products from this company, DOUBLE check your order...That's all I have to say.

But if you are wanting to work for this company... wow for get it. You will regret taking a step in this company. You will be tested in your orientations and be giving the love, family, integrity, and respect speech. Don't fall for that. They're a hypocritical two-face company. No progression in is company. They're set in their ways. Trust. You'll work under policies that no one follows, not even the company and their so call degree earning staff. You'll be working under/amongst disrespectful, uneducated, prejudice leaderships that THRIVE off patronizing their hardworking employees. So do yourselves a favor, know your worth and values first before devoting. √

Discrimination, low pay, favoritism
Technician (Current Employee) –  Venice, FLMarch 6, 2018
Core values are admirable but not consistently carried out through management. A lot of incompetencies are allowed in management which causes severe suffering to entire teams. Little opportunity for advancement if you don't fit into a certain demographic. Favoritism is at an all time high in comparison to other jobs I've worked at in the past 25 years. The company creates a great product and does a lot for the community. It has the potential to blossom into a wonderful place to work, but they will have to take a more serious detailed look at their management. Maybe focus mire on talent and ability and less on who can "suck up" the best.
Pros
Decent company in theory and benefits if you have no family
Cons
Very Discriminatory, unpleasant work environment, stressful, low pay

Very stressful and underpaid. Make you work 60-70 hours a week without having no advancement in the company. This place is by far the worst job to ever have. I do not recommend PGT to anybody.

Slave (Current Employee) –  The cotton fieldsSeptember 11, 2016
Over worked and waaaayyyy underpaid. You pretty much live there no work life balance at all. Management treats people like garbage and could care less about their employees the owner along with all the other executives are too busy watching their wallets fill up rather than boosting work morale. Most leaders have an iq of a peanut pretty much nothing is good about this company no incentives, one raise a year which is 3% but only if your a model employee and have no life you have been forewarned

Grueling
Jasmine (Former Employee) –  Venice, FLFebruary 15, 2016
This compnay does work you like a slave, not an employe. It is impossible to schedule days off.You are forced to worked 7 days a week at times. It is very hard to be happy at a company like this one. If you want stress levels tht soar through the roof because of exhaustion apply. The benefits are good but you will lose all personal life. They are only family oriented when orders are few. They also do not retain employees because of their grueling dictating ways. Its hard to rely on your team mates when they consistanly change. FRUSTRATING!!!!!!! 10hr is not worth it and 13hrs still not worth it.

slave (Former Employee) –  Venice, FLJanuary 16, 2016
Theres is absolutely no work life balance. You are treated like a slave day in and day out . The management all the way up is horrible and so out of touch with its employees all they care about is money. The work morale is just god awful because again managment works people like slaves. A company where the rich get richer and the poor stay poor.

Hard work and long hours
Technician 1 - Glass Operations (XYZ) (Former Employee) –  Nokomis, FLOctober 31, 2015
A typical day would be spent breaking away the excess glass and soon-to-be window panes, from the large singular sheets of glass from which they had been scored. The panes are moved to carts based on size and destination, while the excess is thrown into a large container for disposal/recycling. This process is basically the extent of what a level 1 Technician performs on a usual shift (8-12 hours). Your coworkers will be a collection of hearty men who are usually quite friendly upon introduction and are eager to assist you in settling into your position. The hardest part of the job has to be that ,along with constant heavy lifting, the glass plant work conditions are unfavorable (minimal HVAC). The best aspect had to be the benefits and health care. PGT has excellent healthcare options for employees with family members as well as 401k and stock options.

Terrible balance of work and family
Manufacturing Technician (Current Employee) –  Venice, FLOctober 5, 2015
Each day i come in at 5 pm for a 12 hour shift this lasts 5-6 days each week. During the hiring process HR kept mentioning how PGT is family first. Which is an outright lie, they make you work on your days off and have "voluntary" scheduling on the rest of your days off which in reality is that you are forced to pick which day you'll work on your day off. It's a tedious work environment and also stressful some lines can have as many as 5 bosses which gets confusing. One boss will tell you what to do then the other boss will yell at you for not being where they want you to be. The majority of the bosses are nice but the higher ups feel the need to work you like slaves. They schedule you to work insane hours between 60-84 hours a week because management schedules your line builds that are insane. There's been weeks where they doubled the build and expected 500+ windows each week when between both shifts you're only putting out between 200-330 windows a day, and then get mad that the line isn't producing the expected amount. Overall it's an Ok job to work until something better comes along or you get burned out working the 60+ hour work weeks.
Pros
Good pay, On site cafeteria
Cons
hours, work/family life, terrible upper management.
