Design is me. I loved working with Pier1. Loved solving customers design problems, arranging flowers to make them appreciate what they had to buy, meeting new people daily and seeing them smile in satisfaction. It's a lot to do here but no hours so you're Never full time. Low pay. Took up a 2nd job. I had to move on to focus on my other better paying job. I suggest more full time associate positions.

You have so many great people that leave due to not being compensated commensurate to what is being asked of them. You need to pay them a living wage and/or a wage that could support a college student while working part time. Associates I know have to work several jobs. Imagine how much more you could grow the company if you had them devoted to Pier 1 instead of splitting their time in order to make enough money. You say you value the employees...how about you compensate them like you mean it.

They need to pay their employees a lot better. After 5 years I make $1.20 more than when I started, and that includes the .07 raise I got when minimum wage went up. But now any employee that starts working there tomorrow will make the exact same amount as me and I have 5 years of employment under my belt. So what I suggest is that they now increase my wage by at least $1.20 and give retro pay to January 1st when minimum wage went up. With this new minimum wage, I have helped new employees who are paid the same as me, yet they can't use the cash register and aren't knowledgable about the computer system. It's a real slap in the face, especially since they are now taking away some of our previous discount benefits. Unfortunately, if I quit, corporate could care less, as it won't affect them, but it will affect my manager, and I hate that she will get punished because of corporates lack of care for their employees, especially their seasoned ones.

Pay a decent wage and don’t change employee discount. Shouldn’t change the discount policy bc your profit margins are down. Maybe if you took a look at your shrink rate and did something about shoplifting and hired a security guard at the entrance your profit margin would increase and your employees would feel safe.

Schedule everyone more hours if they want to work. Give employees a periodical raise in pay. Otherwise, it is an awesome company to work for.
