Challenging work environment for a contracting company. This company was average in that I was able to go to school but would not want to have a career with them.

CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER (Current Employee) –  San Diego, CAMay 6, 2016
excellent group of people that will have your back if you find yourself in a bind. They have an appropriately designed management brand of a row boat with oarsmen coordinating their direction. The "Row true" motto fits the organization intentions well.

Attack Helicopter Mechanic (Former Employee) –  Camp Pendleton, CAJuly 22, 2015
Horrible management. There is no job security at all. Do not even attempt to work here unless you want to get lied to and have the potential to get replaced after a year or two.

Maintenance Controller, Technician (Former Employee) –  Kaneohe, HIMarch 17, 2015
Great Boss, never questioned my ability to lead our maintenance team, communicated well and taught me a few things about monthly reports and evaluating employee's. We had a great team of technician's that always met our deadlines. 2nd best job I ever worked, USMC being first!

Quality Assurance Inspector (Former Employee) –  Camp Pendleton CaliforniaJuly 25, 2014
poor upper management, no periodical reviews. typical day was maintenance meeting to prioritize jobs for the day and keep in contact with customer throughout the day to keep jobs on track with time frame and quality. Co-workers made the job site enjoyable place to work. Many common mentalities and work ethics in the work force. Most difficult part of the job was lack of direction and proper unbiased conflict resolution and proper HR support.
Pros
pay
Cons
as stated above, plus the forced multiple overseas duties for 12 months at a time away from family and real life.

F/A 18 Work Center Supervisor (Current Employee) –  San Diego, CAMay 16, 2014
A typical day at work consists of checking to see what was done on the previus shift. If no work from the previous shift needs to followed up on or completed, then priorities for the day are established and worked on.
Working for PKL, I have learned about teamwork, diversity, .

Maintenance Supervisor (Current Employee) –  Poway, CAOctober 24, 2013
A typical work day begins at 6 am. I gather all reports and put a plan together for the 7 am maintenance meeting. After I give this meeting I monitor all squadron work orders and change work priorities as things change throughout the day. I also screen all aircraft logbooks and work-orders before each flight. This is to ensure there is nothing that would prohibit that aircraft from flying (inspections overdue, discrepancies that prohibit the aircraft from flying, etc.). I have learned that being flexible and having good communication skills are important. Priorities change throughout the day and being able to re-prioritize is very important. This is the hardest part of my job as most Marines and civilian contractors have a hard time adapting to changes. The most enjoyable part of my job is the interaction with the Marines. The Marine Corps is a very special group of highly motivated young men and women.
Pros
Working with Marines
Cons
Far commute

Sheet Metal / GM-III/CDI (Former Employee) –  Kāne‘ohe Bay, HIFebruary 11, 2013
The methodology for achieving the spirit and intent of my job objective is labeled "performance improvement". Performance improvement is an "all hands" effort which focuses on service and close support to customers. As a primary prerequisite, the mission must be clearly understood and communicated to everyone in the organization. It is essential that all personnel know their job, understand their contribution to mission accomplishment, and are sensitive to customer requirements. New or improved cost effective capabilities and processes must be continuously pursued. Mutually supporting teamwork, constant communication, and compatible measures are critical elements for success. Performance improvement must be targeted to accomplish the following broad goals:
(1) Increased readiness.
(2) Improved quality.
(3) Improved deploy ability.
(4) Improved sustainability.
(5) Reduced costs.
(6) Enhanced preparedness for mobilization, deploy ability, and contingency operations.
(7) Enhanced supply availability.
(8) Improved morale and retention.
• (9) Compliance with environmental laws, rules, and regulations.
