Immediately is not correct. I had my face to face interview on 9-28-17 and I still haven't heard back from them since. I know that a background check has to be done and most take 2 to 4 business days unless it's an FBI background check, which takes about 30 days. If that's the type of background check that is being done, I think the most professional thing to do is to call the applicant 2 weeks after the interview an just let them know that they haven't been forgotten about and the check can take another 2 more weeks at which time, HR will contact them. People that need jobs can't just sit around waiting for a call thats going to take 4 weeks.
