When I started in 2003 it was a very good company. Then management went downhill.
Production Associate lll (Former Employee) –  Buffalo Grove, ILAugust 31, 2019
They have poor management and they don't live up to their words. I worked 13 yrs. My mom needed
24 hr care. They told me they would give me my job back. Instead they made me start all over as a temp. Less pay but expected me to do everything like I never left. And even got yell at by management for not paying attention.
Pros
The people was nice
Cons
Poor management.

Production Associate II (Former Employee) –  Neenah, WIAugust 20, 2019
Lots of OT & very unorganized management. Work is very easy & climate controlled. Many areas are sitting down positions so not too bad. Slight pay increases in the last few months.

Lots of great people working hard to meet customer needs
Senior Training Specialist (Current Employee) –  Chicago, ILAugust 7, 2019
Lots of people have made a long-term career out of working for Plexus. I enjoyed the work I did and the diverse group of people I worked with. There was considerable management change in the Chicago site in the past few years - but other than a few exceptions, those changes are very positive. Overall, the company is growing, and works hard to meet it's customers' needs.

Great place to work, but management lacks in areas.
Trainer (Current Employee) –  Nampa, IDJuly 8, 2019
Typical work day consisted of directing employees to needed job areas and helping with their training. Hardest part was making it through the 12 hour days.

Decent manufacturing place to work for
Production Associate (Current Employee) –  Neenah, WIJune 30, 2019
pros: smocks and esd straps for shoes provided, low-medium noise, a clean room/temperature controlled environment, company offers free popcorn/drinks on thursdays to increase morale, computer modules for training provided to understand the company and job, continuous training provided if you want to move to other departments or positions within your department, for 10-hours you get two 10 min breaks and one 20 min lunch break (you get a min or two to walk back to your department) they don’t track you down and expect you to be there at your station right at the cut-off min, co-workers are friendly and easy-going. small lockers provided for your things. vending machines and a coke machine available for lunch. you can pay with credit card or debit using a kiosk (vending area is a tight squeeze), they have fridges to keep your lunch in or cold items. the company is becoming more transparent with their pay grades and salary structures but this is still in the works. engineers constantly change the structure of an area or line to make it more efficient (this can be good or bad depending on where you work but it looks like they want more automation in the future).

cons: pay is still lower than most manufacturing companies i’ve been to around in the US but it’s a give and take at 12.50 for first shift and 13.00 after 90 days, considering amazon is paying 20 and up in some parts of the US. the pay is a little more for weekend or second shift but not by much. overtime is mandatory so if you chose to work a tuesday to friday shift; expect to work mondays for mandatory overtime (you’re
more... really working 46-48 hours per week, mon-fri). unless you have health restrictions, expect to come in for mandatory overtime. benefits are available to cover health, vision, dental, 401k, and life insurance but will take up a good portion of your check. some production leads are slave drivers while others are more team driven to get the work done (if you’re slow or don’t understand the job right away, they’ll work with you but don’t expect special treatment). they keep track of how fast a piece is being worked and how many get done in a certain time, you’re constantly told about how much you’re doing or how much time it should take to finish a piece. waking up early at 4:00am, summer is okay, but winter can be difficult with travel.

misc: time of work is at 5am to 3pm for 1st shift and 3:30pm to 1:30am for second. team meetings are everyday in the morning right at 5am, you have to come in earlier 4:45am to find parking, get ready, and walk to your department. the leads put you in the department according to skill set. they have everyone’s pictures on a white board that they can move around. all assignments or work orders that you do are kept tracked on a computer that you have to enter into a program (you will need to know how to type or be computer savvy) that includes breaks, cleaning-up, meetings, and times you’re not working. tenure parking is for co-workers who have worked there 30 yrs or more. if you want to get in you will need to have a good employee referral as it appears they are hiring referrals first, both get a bonus for it.

overall, it’s a good job with a lot of over-time depending on department. i would recommend this for folks who like to work long hours sitting or standing up doing light work with their hands and eyes. you will have to be someone who can pay high attention to detail as parts are very small to look at. you work independently or in a table team of 5-6 people. if you can get into other departments or higher positions in the office it may be a great career for you.

Senior coordinator (Current Employee) –  Buffalo Grove, ILJune 30, 2019
The people are great to work with a lot of diversity and teamwork. The company seems to send jobs outside the US. The moral of the team is very low. That's why I am looking for a steady work place.

Work starts at 6 am, management guilt trips you into working overtime and Saturdays. People are friendly though. Free coffee. Work is easy and monotonous.

A good company to start a career at, but don't stay long
Engineer (Current Employee) –  Neenah, WIJune 7, 2019
As the title says, it's a good company for engineers to start out at, but the salaries are low and the benefits aren't great. For non-salary employees, expect a lot of overtime and again not great pay. The culture at the Neenah site is bleak. We've had 5 different General Managers in 5 years, so it's a revolving door with not stability or steady leadership.

Come here, get some experience, and move on to a more culture-driven, employee-centric company to experience real growth.

Long hours
Quality Assurance Inspector (Former Employee) –  Nampa, IDJune 3, 2019
Plexus was a great job, I never wanted to leave. Only draw back was you are working 10 hours every shift and potentially would have to pick up overtime as mandatory. You worked with electronic components and sometimes you were freezing.

Production Associate III (Former Employee) –  Nampa, IDMay 22, 2019
The individual experience can vary greatly depending on who you work for. Both in terms of management and customer. If you are fortunate to work for one of the few leads who cares about their subordinates you can go far. If you're not then you will most likely quit for better prospects.

Working as a production operator in several areas
PA II (Current Employee) –  Nampa, IDMay 21, 2019
Working 12 hour days or nights scheduled, but will be sent home during slow times, requiring you to use vacation days to keep your hours and paycheck consistent. Working with SMT type equipment can be a challenge, but plenty of knowledgeable technicians to help you with questions or issues.
Management on nights are good focusing on quality of product. Day management concentrating too much on appearances of moving product during customer visits, rather than solving true issues of product quality when issues arise. Known for taking away previous certifications when moved to different areas because certifications not be used, which limits personal growth in company.
Culture is more of a reactive mindset based, panic and damage control when too late. Not proactive, "how to best prevent from happening at all."
Being put in between management of quality issues vs throughput numbers by Quality Engineers and immediate Shift Management, whose goals, are at odds with each other.
Pros
Most employees I worked with care about quality. Even if management says to do otherwise.
Cons
Full shift hours and pay not reliable from day to day, poorly and mismanaged departments, preach quality, double standard of managers pushing numbers to sacrifice quality, reactive approach, not proactive when finding solutions, temp agency type business philosophy.

Inventory Analyst/Process Analyst (Former Employee) –  Neenah, WIMay 13, 2019
Most of the reports I ran were provided to my co-workers so they could determine how to proceed. I did not have much input on the final decision since the data basically spoke for itself.

Materials Lead (Production Floor) (Former Employee) –  Buffalo, ILApril 20, 2019
They could have done better doing direct hire instead of outsourcing. The pay kind of looks good if it's a direct hire but it's contracted out then that money isn't enough for people under that umbrella.

Overall, it's a better place to work, advancement might be tricky in some departments while it's easy in others.
