PBS is a very positive company. The regional staff are extremely friendly and helpful. There is a lot of help and guidance you just have to seek it out. Great online system for communicating with colleagues and storing/uploading client documents.
Company feels disorganized. Lack of company wide scheduling procedures. Lack of company wide procedures in general for data collection, dress code, scheduling. Everything is left up to the BCBA to determine. Since every BCBA has different expectations, assistants that work with several BCBA’s have to adapt to each new analyst’s way of doing things which can cause th analyst extra time spent to train the assistants to do things the way they want for their cases. So much time is spent on administrative responsibilities that you don’t get paid for. Since everyone are independent contractors assistants can change their schedule on a whim. This creates at least three hours of work for the analyst (mostly unpaid) as they have to recruit, (may choose to interview), schedule, and overlap with new assistant to orient to case.
Lack of benefits. No 401k, sick time, PTO, etc.
Flexibility (freedom to create your own schedule, choose your own cases, etc)
No benefits, you are often isolated working from home, no interaction with colleagues
