Worst k12 vendor on the planet
Solution Engineer (Former Employee) –  Remote PaJuly 15, 2018
I know powerschool having been a customer and then an employee. Would have never seeked employment with this less than ethical company but company I I had been hired by was acquired. Company has been on buying spree last couple of years and is having trouble making it all workfor there customers. As far as ethics they do not have the decency of issuing compensation plans in a timely manner, they were four months late and then cut compensation for employees from acquired companies with no explanation or justification. They also do not always pay commissioned employees in a timely manner. This is a sorry excuse for an organization.
Pros
Ability to work remotely
Cons
Leadership can be described as disorganized rabble at best.

Everyone was miserable, Management does not care
Product Analyst, Feature Expert Team (Former Employee) –  Austin, TXApril 17, 2018
PowerSchool was the most mismanaged company I've ever experienced. Acquired by an equity firm, overworked and underpaid, it is clear that no one cares about the employees.
Cons
Salary, hours, treatment by management, benefits

Was good while it lasted
PM (Former Employee) –  Folsom, CAFebruary 14, 2018
PowerSchool WAS a great company to work with when they were with Apple and even Pearson. This all changed with the current owners, Vista. Instead of having mutual consideration for the employee and the employee for the company, it has turned into a place where you're waiting to be laid off. Benefits were slashed, pay has not increased to the standards of the industry. It went from a place where you wanted to work and stay for your career to a place to work until a better opportunity comes along. There are rumors that PowerSchool may be sold again and maybe the new owners will bring this once great company back to its old glory.
Pros
Free Drinks (Maybe), fun place to work when there's a party
Cons
Management has no clue what the business is, pay and benefits not worth the headache

Great place to work!
Executive Assistant (Former Employee) –  Folsom, CAJanuary 29, 2018
PowerSchool offers DTO which means the employees do not accrue vacation time, they just take the time they need, when they need it. The company is very invested in keeping the employees happy by offering a game room, fitness center, yoga classes, numerous parties and events, and even standing desks.

My personal experience at PowerSchool offered very flexible hours, and great work/life options. The company is a fast pasted, hard working atmosphere consisting of long term employees and many young college grads combined.

PowerSchool does work hard to engage their employees and make them happy, so they have little tolerance for slackers. They will remove an employee without hesitation if they are not contributing to the company and culture in a positive fashion. Since there really isn't any reason to not be happy there, this seems to be a very good policy in order to keep the good ones in and get the bad ones out. IMO anyway....
Pros
The facilities, culture, and time off benefits
Cons
I believe the medical benefits leave much to be desired

Words don't align with actions
Product Support Advisor (Former Employee) –  RemoteDecember 19, 2017
No room for advancement, and no consideration for remote employees.

Poor management.

Culture that they preached was not the reality.

After acquiring my employer, the leadership failed to identify key staff because they assumed that the current managers were effective and trustworthy, which was not the case.

No dress code, no one takes note if you show up 2 minutes late, and there is no micro managing. A desk of silly hats is always available if you feel so inclined. Coworkers are friendly and helpful and will often bring food to share with everyone.
Pros
Free snacks, occasional free lunches, no dress code, relaxed environment, lots of nearby restaurants to try for lunch
Cons
no benefits for contract positions

This is a bit of a meat grinder but a good place to build experience. They over utilize associates to get things done with cheap inexperienced labor that inevitably causes many mistakes and additional work for others.

Poor work/life balance, low pay, no chance for advancement
Web Form Designer (Former Employee) –  Ronkonkoma, NYJuly 23, 2017
Due to PowerSchool's takeover of FIS (previously SunGard) in March 2017, there were quite a few people that were laid off, including some that were there for quite some time. Pros = Good medical/dental/vision plans, 401k, paid holidays. Cons = Poor work/life balance, low pay, no chance for advancement. Management wanted to push out software that was not 100% ready for full release.
Pros
Good medical/dental/vision plans, 401k, paid holidays
Cons
Poor work/life balance, low pay, no chance for advancement

The pay at Powerschool could be better but overall the people are great to work for and the benefits are excellent. You get the chance to influence student's all over the United States and help them succeed. Overall this is a great company to work for.

Great Company to work for
Customer Technical Service Representative (Current Employee) –  Rancho Cordova, CANovember 16, 2015
I am currently a contract employee. This is a great company to work for, with amazing management. Unfortunately, the new owners, Vista Equity Partners have a test that you have to pass. Management has fought against the test trying to get us "Grandfathered" into the position, but they are unwilling to budge.

Regardless of the new owners, I have never been so happy to work for such a wonderful company that cares about each and every one of their employees. I wish I could stay.....
Pros
Competative Pay, Great Management, Occasional lunch/breakfast

Great work environment, good camaraderie. Great pay, but the big con is that they mainly just hire temps for their peak season once a year.
