Upper management completely disconnected

Corporate office has no idea what happens in the stores, as such, many policies are completely out of touch with the day to day operations. Upper levels of management do not come from positions that can even remotely relate to the architectural coatings business, and their leadership decisions reflect that lack of understanding on a daily basis.Ppg continually makes business commitments to other corporations with no plan or hope of meeting contractual obligations.

Relaxed Workplace

Advancement is slow and it is a union shop. I was laid off every winter when work slowed down. Coworkers also didn't care much about getting work done leading the lower seniority people working mandatory overtime while the higher seniority people went home.

It’s a good job. If you want to work. Sometime it can be redundant, but it’s a factory so it’s to be expected. The training regiment could use some improving, but one you know the job it’s easy money.
