Pret A Manger Team Member Review

Clear signs of favoritism. The managers make it clear what can get you immediately terminated, but constantly give passes to their favorite workers. Majority of the workers seem to have never advanced past your basic high school mentality because they constantly pick on new people, people who actually LIKE working at pret, or actually want to do their job, calling them names, giving them the silent treatment, making fun of them behind their back and etc. When you tell management they do NOTHING about it, I even had one manager go and tell the person that I reported them to the manager. I get paid 15.25, but the pay isn't worth the abuse the job gives you. If you choose to take this job, my advice is to be mediocre or stay in the kitchen, you'll encounter less drama that way.

There's some good....and a lot of bad
Team Member Star (Former Employee) - New York, NY - July 18, 2022
Alright so I didn't spend a lot of time at this company. I'll start off with the plus side. You get to move up quickly. The base pay is a little higher than minimum. You're basically going to be working with the same people and get to know your team, which can be a plus or a downside depending on the people you work with. You do get to have a free meal and free coffee as well. Now the downsides. Some of these do depend on the management people you get stuck with so it's mostly based on personal experience. Upper management is seriously stupid. I was expected to do my new role perfectly while having my hours cut, which took away prep time, despite not having the role title officially and only being with the company for about a month or 2. Training is done through a screen. I was told to do modules that could only be done during work but I was still expected to do my regular duties on top of that. I got minimal training and help from other people. I got trained a bit by the former hot chef who was very eager to leave. While it's not hard it is very fast pace especially working in the morning so being new and having no support makes for a stressful time. A lot of the maintenance of the store was not kept up. This is a store specific problem though. You aren't allowed to take tips. This is a huge fault because given how busy the morning was you could easily make 5+ additional dollars an hour at no cost to the company which would make the work load a bit more worth it.
Pros
Free lunch
Cons
Understaffed

Fun plave to work at
Team Member (Former Employee) - New - July 2, 2022
It is a good company to work at. However if you are nor used to fast pace this is not the place. They work with your schedule. I was going to school and working at the same time. They are really understanding on that part

Best location.
Cashier (Former Employee) - Los Angeles, CA - September 8, 2020
Customers were very unusually challenging. Rules of dress code was changed few times by different managers. 2 or 3 different managers suggested 3 different types of employee dress code which got me confused & they finally convinced me not to wear skirts , but initially I was suggested by a manger to wear skirts for work.
Pros
Discounted meals for employees.
Cons
Very busy place. Trash cans fill up very fast.
