Flexible and manageable place to work part time
Sales Representative (Former Employee) - Ashburn, VA - March 15, 2017
Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedI didn't get to work there long due to relocating from VA to Florida, so I only got passed training. I was unable to go through schooling to receive my financial license.
Pros
Manage your own hours
Cons
Pay only comes from commission

Great company to be apart of
Licensed Insurance Agent (Current Employee) - Mobile, AL - June 8, 2023
The environment with Primerica is unlike any other environment I have worked in. I love the support that is offered with in-office training or training/group sessions on Zoom. It really is incredibly simple to get started with Primerica and it's a MISSION to help others learn how their money works. I love it and wished I had started years ago.

good life and investment products the MLM aspects sucks
Director (Current Employee) - San Lorenzo, CA - June 6, 2023
The products are great products they offer to every family. I don't like how they push recruiting all day every day. You can get income with only premium sales but to get the 3x3 bonus you need those recruitments. There's no renewal income and they make you captive in your P&C license which sucks. When I was with an all-lines company at lease when life was slow to sell I had home, auto, and commercial to look forward to. I wish the contract was not captive. Don't let them trick you when they say you "independent agent" or when they say you're not captive. You will have to end all your other appointments and you cant work as a producer for any other agent.

Commission
CA Licensed Life Insurance Agent / Licensing Coordinator (Current Employee) - California - June 6, 2023
It's 100% commission based You only make money if you sell products and/or recruit others to join the team. It has the capability of being very lucrative but working on commission only is tough. Some are making alot of money but they seem to work 24/7
Pros
Work for yourself
Cons
No benefits

Not really the greatest
Insurance Agent (Former Employee) - Orlando, FL - June 5, 2023
Makes you feel like just another number in the algorithm. It’s more about recruiting people than selling insurance products. It’s a great way to get your license at least

Mixed feelings overall
Sales Associate (Current Employee) - Akron, OH - June 5, 2023
Pros: They'll pay for you to get your licenses. If you're a good salesperson you'll be paid well. You are fully in control of your own schedule. You can also schedule to talk with other representatives as little or as much as you want. You have to initiate though. Although not required, they have live zoom meetings almost daily. Cons: You're 100% commissions based and they'll ask you to get your family involved. Don't expect a wage! You probably won't earn more than $500 in your first few months. (Even if your very committed. You'll honestly make more money recruiting.) You'll be alone most of the time and that gets frustrating. You'll most likely be talked into becoming a recruiter which is not the job you originally get pitched. It's essentially a pyramid scheme (MLM) but isn't necessarily ilegitimate either. They really ride the line. Take away: Expect to study hard. Finance is very broad! There are so many opportunities but each one can be extremely technical. While they help you get a license, they don't pay you unless your selling products. Since it's commissions based you must decide if you care more about learning or recruiting. You can try to do both but you'll be working 70 hours a week.

Great place to work!
Division Leader (Current Employee) - Indianapolis, IN - May 31, 2023
This company allows me to grow at my own pace and on my own schedule. And the compensation structure is PHENOMENAL. I am so thankful for the person who recruited me and has given me a new opportunity to better my future as well as the future of other families that I help.
Pros
Competitive culture, work/life balance, great incentives, awesome work environment
Cons
Commission

Awesome company
District leader (Current Employee) - Tampa, FL - May 27, 2023
"You have to pay to work for then" NO YOU DO NOT! you make a small deposit for your background check and license fee. YOU GET IT BACK AFTER YOU GET YOUR LICENSE! DO NOT LISTEN TO THE NAYSAYERS!!! SEE FOR YOURSELF!!
Pros
Paid licensing, freedom of time. No cap of income
Cons
Not for the employee mindset

For yourself but not by yourself
Regional Leader (Current Employee) - North Highlands, CA - May 22, 2023
Working in Primerica is the best. You start as an independent contractor so you chose the time. But everyone is there to help you. If you get into a good loving and knowledgeable team, the experience will be great. But if the manager/ boss is negative and incompetent, the experience is not that good. Just switch the team.
Pros
Own time, own compensation, free education, help with getting licensed.
Cons
You have to work on yourself to be your own boss. It's good and it's bad.

Difficult place to work in
Insurance Agent (Former Employee) - Fontana, CA - May 21, 2023
Pay was good but focus was mostly on recruiting other people. They offer good insurance plans for their customers. It was difficult to focus on insurance sales when recruiting was constantly pushed.

Stressful
Insurance Agent (Former Employee) - Queens, NY - May 19, 2023
The model of how they sell to family and friends is what turned me off from the company. Especially because they encourage you not to be honest when getting them to sit down for the sales meeting. How can you be ok with lying and tricking your family and friends for money, because that is what you are doing. I would rather be honest and let them make the choice knowing what they are agreeing to. If you are ok with hurting your most important relationships for some money then go ahead. It’s not how I want to be regarded with my family and friends. It’s not a pyramid scheme but it mimic it, where the top recruiter makes the most money off of the new recruits and the new recruits usually are struggling and make little money, but if you are a good salesmen you can move up fast, you would do that based off warm and cold markets. They don’t use leads like other companies which I think they absolutely should.

New to the company. Only recently heard about it. Have mixed views not sure about the work and commission way of gaining money. The licensing seems nice.

Fabulous company
Current Employee (Current Employee) - New Jersey - May 10, 2023
As an employee at Primerica Life Insurance, I have had a positive experience working for this company. The culture and values of the company prioritize helping clients achieve financial security and independence, which aligns with my personal values. One aspect of the job that I appreciate is the comprehensive training program that prepares new agents for success. The training covers everything from product knowledge to sales strategies, which has helped me to feel confident and prepared when meeting with clients. The management team is approachable and provides excellent support to agents. I feel comfortable reaching out to them with any questions or concerns I may have, and they are always happy to help. The compensation and benefits package is also competitive, which is a plus. As an agent, I have the opportunity to earn a significant income based on my sales performance, and the benefits package includes health insurance, retirement plans, and other perks. Overall, I am happy to be a part of Primerica Life Insurance and would recommend it to others who are interested in a career in the insurance industry.

Horrible place to work
Recruiter (Contract) (Current Employee) - Duluth, GA - May 10, 2023
A lot of favoritism. If they don’t like you, they’ll look for the slightest opportunity to let you go. A lot of office politics and gossip. Not a professional setting at all. Do not recommend

Terrible
Financial Advisor (Former Employee) - Fort Worth, TX - May 4, 2023
They fill you up with lies just to make money off of you and your friends and family. The only decent part of the job is that you get to become a licensed life insurance agent.
