Full of questions that don’t specifically focus on the skills needed to be a caseworker. Also, full of unrealistic expectations and duties that are not truthfully explained by management.
What is the work environment and culture like at Prince William County Government?
Like daycare worker and child. Especially at the Woodbridge office if you are a Human Service Worker. Management there tend to hire a supervisor in the BECC division if you have been a caseworker there for 20 years with no education and no real leadership skills
How did you feel about telling people you worked at Prince William County Government?
It is not for everyone. Very stressful so if you handle stress this is for you. No training thus, prepare yourself for the position and be expected that you are accountable to all qualifications for the position. Must be willing to deal with doing all assignments and projects from your supervisor that they didn't do and were supposed to and sit back.
Extreme workload. Very understaffed. Clerk spends time redecorating the office, performing weddings, and replacing trained staff with new staff to be trained constantly. Also closes office in the morning to the public/attorney as a solution for staff to work on backlog created by understaffing.
What advice would you give the CEO of Prince William County Government about how to improve it?
None! When you are hired into that important position you should already have the education, skills and proven track record of a great leader. At that level you should be able to mentor others.
