Working at Prospect Medical
Performance Programs Quality Care Coordinator (Current Employee) –  Orange, CAJune 27, 2018
I work 40+ hours a week.
Pay is not very good considering the amount of tasks that are assigned on a daily basis. The work environment is good when morale is kept in encouragement. Unfortunately prospect medical does not match 401k and health benefits are pricey. Over all, it is a great place to get your foot in the door and soak up as much information as possible for future endeavors.
Pros
flexibility with hours and PTO requests
Cons
No 401k match, health benefits are a little pricey, difficulty in company advancement

Prospect has built a respectable organization. It offers a broad continuum of care ranging from Health Plan and Medical Group to more than 20 hospitals.

Growing company
Manger (Current Employee) –  Orange, CAJanuary 22, 2018
The company has it's challenges but they are trying to improve their culture. Definite growing pains...heavy workload.
The company is top heavy. Too many chiefs not enough indians.
On a positive note, the human resource department does a lot of fun activities for the employees.
Pros
Good PTO, fun activities
Cons
Expensive benefits, heavy workload

Customer Service (Former Employee) –  Orange, CAJanuary 19, 2018
Management or Manager is a completely ignorant but got the job somehow there and are clueless of how to run with no basic knowledge. They start learning at the company from scratch and don't even know the difference between Medical and what is insurance. They are dysfunctional beyond imagination, ran by people who don't know about compliance or labor laws or anything for that matter and top of that behave so RUDE and unbelievably rude. Other departments seem to have similar problems about extreme favoritism..
Unbelievable stories are too long to list here.
Don't be fooled by the building.

Unproductive, micromanaged environment, unprofessional leadership
Coordinator (Current Employee) –  Orange County, CAJanuary 6, 2018
Days are dreadful, there is very little to learn especially when management spends most of their day gossiping behind closed doors all while their departments are falling apart. PROCEDURES and structure are non existent, no training is ever provided, employee turn over is serious, the benefits and pay are poor. They keep hiring directors and managers that have nothing to offer but cause more problems. The culture is negative and toxic, the hardest part of the day is fearing the day will be worst than the last.

This is a bad place to work
Personal Care Coordinator (Former Employee) –  Orange County, CAJanuary 1, 2018
If your looking for a place to grow this is not the right place to do so. I work there for 9 months. Why I quit?
1. Hourly play is a joke 16.50 lol
2. Management is horrible
3. HR DOES NOT DO ANYTHING FOR YOU.
4. Politics is a real thing
5. Drama between co-works always! There all girls so God bless you.
6. Micromanage
7. Lack professionalism.
This just a few, but nevertheless I do not recommend it his place at all.

Absolutely terrible place to work. Cutthroat and mean leadership team.
Manager (Former Employee) –  Providence, RIDecember 28, 2017
All employees hate workng here and dream of working elsewhere. Their leadership has no compassion for employees and they take their lead from the corporate office in California - the angriest and meanest people one could ever meet. HR is awful. Should you ignore this advice you'll realize you made a major mistake.
Pros
Pay
Cons
Benefits reduced each year; terrible leadership, angry workforce

Great co-workers, but poor management
UM Coordinator (Former Employee) –  Rancho Cucamonga, CADecember 15, 2017
This place is only concerned about numbers which is fine, but the training is very poor. They teach you how to use the computer and then just throw you out there. Training is not consistent from one employee to the next, and discourage asking other employees (or offer sit alongs) for assistance. If you make a mistake, they will show you what you did wrong, but then take you off of that task to do something different.
During training documents are printed as needed for each employee instead of documented which items each trainee has received. They will say to refer to your manual, when the correct page was never given to you.
Pros
Great co-workers
Cons
Not flexible with time off which causes people to no show to create more work for others.

Coordinator (Former Employee) –  Orange, CANovember 27, 2017
Like the work environment everyone is very nice, lots of activities during the holidays. Only negative part is that there is minimal training, and a lot expected from an employee to learn and understand on there own.

Unstable and Cutt-throat workplace with lack of Culture
Director (Former Employee) –  San Antonio, TXNovember 24, 2017
This place is toxic with a reactive approach to business. Leadership lacks professionalism and foresight to do what is necessary to get ahead in today's healthcare industry.
They invest time in developing a work-around plan to most problems versus creating a lasting solution.

Do not work here!! Your just a body to them not a person
Referral Coordinator (Former Employee) –  Orange County, CANovember 6, 2017
Horrible management, raises are poor, they see you as a body not a person. If your not in your seat that means your referrals are not being completed. The Senior VP on the 7th floor has her favorite's that's for sure. Certain people in the medical management team take advantage of the rules that should be enforced but since they never are enforced this is why this team is losing and has lost so many great employees. Get rid of the slackers and get that place back up and running the way it use to be.
Pros
Coworkers, paid time off
Cons
4% raises, management, jerk coworkers

Ok company. ..too many micromanagers
Contracting Specialist (Former Employee) –  Orange County, CAOctober 10, 2017
This place has no structure.....micromanaged...by managers...stressful...you work 10 to 12hrs a day even saturdays...
This company has major employee turnaround...even managers.
They don't match 401k....
Life is very stressful not balanced .....they make you work
Health insurance starts at around $50...for one person....imagine if you have family....it's almost 4times as much..
You get paid every 7th and 22nd of month....if this falls on weekday your ok...but if it fails on weekend you get paid on the following day ...
Cons
Short breaks, healthcare, micromanagers

Came back to work for the provider information management department after a 4 month leave of absence . New department manager does not know what she is doing .She has her favorite employees but she treats her temp staff horrible. She intends to kiss up to upper management which takes credit all for her self and does not acknowledge the temporary staff that has been there for almost 9 months .

Very productive and autonomous
Inpatient Case Manager (Former Employee) –  Orange, CAAugust 28, 2017
My supervisor have "open-door"policy. She is willing to assist you if needed especially with complex/complicated case. The hardest part of the job is bring work home to be in compliance. There was no balanced between work & personal life. The company is growing but always short staff in licensed nurses.
Pros
autonomy; working independently
Cons
Short Staff(nurses); company is growing but staffing is not.
