Job Culture
Corporate healthcare at its worst. Perfect example of a enormous organization taking over the old St. Joseph culture
Vice President (Current Employee) –  Orange, CAAugust 16, 2019
Providence has outsourced so many jobs overseas that it is breathtaking. Over 900 jobs have been eliminated in southern CA alone. Not through layoffs but through eliminating existing positions. All of the hospital CEOs have quit and they have been replaced with CEs (Chief Executives) who are basically handmaiden's to the corporate office. Almost every executive director has been demoted to a director and directors have been demoted to managers. The cuts are so deep quality and decision making are at risk. 100% of the focus of Providence Corporate is making as much money as they can so the can justify the CEO's enormous $11 Million a year salary.
Pros
Nothing that I can think of.
Cons
Centralized decision making to benefit the corporate office in Renton, Washington. Massive price increases, cutting staff to critical levels

The Joint Commission has been accrediting healthcare facilities for more than 60 years and under Medicare since its inception.

Productivity & Quality driven - Machine Mentality
Caregiver (Current Employee) –  Spokane, WAJuly 31, 2019
Bully for a Supervisor and a Manager that allows the behavior continues to be normal business year over year. Accompanied with the daily micro management and disrespect makes Providence a low level employer.
It is very clear the manager does not trust her supervisors or their decisions. The manager is considered the principle; no one wants to enter that office.
The director flies in from Oregon and stays at the Davenport month after month. He has an office and is completely disconnected from us as caregivers. The only connection the director has to us as caregivers is informing us about budget cuts. He should cut his own budget. There are no pay raises to compensate the hard work and productivity expectations each of us as caregivers are expected to accomplish.
Employing temporary to hire employees is a kick in the teeth to us as dedicated employees that barley make more than minimum wage......Providence you have missed the mark!!
The only Providence theme are the words on the wall....Care for me ease my way.....The sisters of Providence would be saddened by the corporate way Providence has become. Caregivers that work for Providence are The Poor & Vulnerable. This should not be.....Providence step up care for the workers. They ease your corporate way.

Projects are not resources appropriately
SR. MANAGER CLINICAL INFORMATICS (Current Employee) –  Seattle, WAJuly 22, 2019
Staff must put in extra hours to execute projects well. This does not translate to a good work life balance. The people are exceptional to work with. The mission and values of the company are good.

Recruiter (Current Employee) –  Renton, WAJuly 13, 2019
The promise: “Know me, care for me, ease my way” could be better applied to caregivers as well.
Limited career growth unless someone leaves with very minimal development.

Great place at first. We are being outsourced
Accounts Payable Specialist (Current Employee) –  Renton, WAJuly 11, 2019
A typical day is going thru emails from vendors and taking calls. Customer service PO team deals with past due accounts. Take care of credit holds. Process missing invoices and makes sure that patient care is not compromised. Maintain partnership with other departs and end users. Last two months I've been working a special project clearing our largest vendor, Medline, of past due issues and working with them directly to get current. It hasn't happened yet.

It was a great place to work at. Great working environment. Great benefits with great medical plan. The mission and goals the organization were great. There could have been better leadership programs to develop the committed caregivers.

Providence Leadership needs to remember whom they serve!
Almost ex employee (Current Employee) –  Renton, WAJune 10, 2019
Providence just announced the outsourcing of several departments putting over 800 employees out of work, all of the jobs are going to be sent to India or the Philippines. The Leadership claims to care about the patients in our facilities, but it's pretty obvious that all they are about is the dollar. For a Non Profit CEO to make $11 Million a year should tell perspective employees something..........

Great place to work
Principle Data Modeler Specialist (Current Employee) –  Anaheim, CAApril 24, 2019
PSJH is a great place to work. There are many perks to the culture of being a caregiver and contributing to the well being of patients. The organization is going through a transitional phase of unifying between two legacy orgs. Once the process is complete, there is no doubt that the PSJH will be innovating for years to come.

Corporate business with changes happening everyday
Sr. Administrative Assistant (Current Employee) –  Mission Hills, CAJanuary 23, 2019
Working at Providence has been challenging. We've undergone several changes within a few years and most recently, changes within the department. Each day can be different and exciting, where thinking outside the box has helped. The most enjoyable part of the job is assisting and helping others resolve a problem or situation and just watching their faces light up with gratitude . Lately, the hardest part of the job has been, not knowing how the changes will affect each individual.
Pros
Benefits, local
Cons
Constant chances
