I quit publix because of how awful management was. I worked in the bakery department. When I was hired, they asked me how much I wanted to work and I told them 20-25 hours. I was scheduled 39 hours every week, juggling that with being a full time student was very difficult. When I asked for less hours, they scheduled me or 5 hours a week.. That's not what I wanted. On top of that, when I worked, I was a closer due to me having class in the day time. I was stuck with everyone's stuff who worked in the day time. Packaging, labeling, cleaning, taking out THEIR trash..etc. I thought it was quite rude for them to leave me so much stuff all the time. I had to stay up front at all times for the customers, sweep, mop, pull dates, and wash dishes. My job alone was a lot for one person so I did not appreciate being left with the day time people's stuff. It's too much. Also, every department EXPECT for the bakery had 2+ people helping close. My department was the Only one that closed with one person. So glad I quit.

Frankly, I dreaded it because we had some godawful customers who were more than happy to be the absolute worst. Once I was there and in the swing of things, it was halfway decent and I even enjoyed it. Then, when I was off, I was so glad to be gone because Publix customers are the worst people I have ever personally experienced.

Great people and supervisors care about your safety, my boss helps me itno my rubber apron and breathing mask before using chemicals at night, the mask covers my mouth and nose and the hood wraps around my head then zips from the top of my head to the back of my neck and buckles the belt around my neck, its somewhat uncomfy but i know its for safety and not to many bosses have cared in the past. great uniforms and great pay with wonderful people who care, cleaning dumpsters at night is grose but hey if you like to work and do everything your boss ask you to do things work out great wherever you are. mmm humm
