Empathetic and caring management
Forklift Operator (Current Employee) - Portland, OR - May 5, 2021
I'm honestly pretty tired of working warehousing and industrial gigs, but I'm going to stay with this company as long as I can until I break into my career of choice. The key difference is Teeny Foods management. They have been extremely empathetic and caring; I had a mental health crisis early this year and the HR manager helped me to sign up for FMLA. I ran out of sick time pretty quickly, but it was good to be able to take time off without risk of losing my job.
Pros
Caring managers.
Cons
Repetitive work, faulty machinery.

Not for a career
Head packager (Former Employee) - Portland, OR - August 6, 2019
It's a good place to work to gain an experience. Not for a career. None shouldn't consider the place for long term. Not a place for smokers. If you have no respect for food, dont go in there.

Lot of Diversity
Sanitation Technician (Former Employee) - Portland, OR - October 11, 2018
Lot of bakery machinery to learn and operate. Also gives you a chance to operate forklifts, scissor lifts, pallet jacks, etc. There was a lot of do on some days, but teamwork made it less stressful for me
Pros
Free bread

Packaging Operator (Former Employee) - Portland, OR - January 9, 2017
Owner was very nice and generous to workers. Owner even comes and talk to you and out side of work when bump into each other at stores. Managements were suppose to rotate workers for over time hours per week but only pick own race to work over time there were a lot of favoritism.
Pros
Got to take food home when left overs
Cons
unfairness for certian workers and favortisume

If you value safety, look elsewhere
Lead Electrician (Former Employee) - Portland, OR - January 7, 2017
Does not follow OSHA, local or state regulations. Frequently disobeys local and NEC code for wiring electronics.
Values production over employee safety. For a food facility, extremely dirty and often find maggots and flies hidden under machines.
Pros
Paycheck
Cons
Extremely Unsafe

Not a very friendly environment to work in. Picky about workload and tasks. Not a very fun job or place to work at. everybody gets a birthday cake on their birthday, but I did not have one on my birthday.
Pros
free lunches when you worked sundays

Productive
Packager (Current Employee) - Portland, OR - February 10, 2014
I enjoyed working for Girling Health Care. I was able to continue my education, and still go to work. When I have a general question it was difficult for me to get in contact with someone, but this would not stop me from recommending this job to anyone.

Very good corporation.
Packaging, Cleaning and Inspecting. (Former Employee) - Portland, OR - April 19, 2013
I learned to work hard and be very responsible. I also learned to arrive in time and to keep myself working at all times. The co-workers were friendly and i learned to work in team. It was hard to pick heavy boxes and easy to inspect bread and other products.
Pros
free lunches.
Cons
short breaks.

Not a place to work at if you want to have a good time
worker (Current Employee) - Portland, OR - March 24, 2013
Low pay. No future. Poor management, only work here if you can't find anything else. some people stay here for many years only because they are too afraid of working anywhere else. This company is going nowhere unless management changes. Fellow workers watch and tell on each other for taking too long of breaks like 11 minutes instead of 10. Only place I have worked where this is the culture. For a place that pay barely above minimum wage this attitude is mind boggling.
Pros
some of the food that is made is edible
Cons
short breaks, expensive health coverage for families
