Assembly Line Worker/ (Former Employee) –  Rice Lake, WIMarch 5, 2019
HR doesn't care even if there is a death in the family.
Low pay .

If you are a favorite you won't be for long ,always micromanaging.

When doing a good job they move you somewhere else so Management has a reason to single you out.

Upon leaving even on good terms they won't even give you a reference for another job.

None .

Loader/line drive/ reciver/production (Former Employee) –  Kent, WAMarch 4, 2019
It was fun to work there in the start, but manegment changes every 3 months and no one knows what there doing. They like to take advantage of you and that goes to the employees as well. There is no job security there, even if they like you they will finde a way to kick you to the curb. I worked in logistics where the box guys are awsome and fun to work with, the loaders are good at loading the trucks but that's it... and the manager well that's a diff story. They dont care if you have a life , so make sure you dont have a life or have plans on your day off
Pros
Pay, the people
Cons
Manegment, long hours, lazy people

Dirty environment and unorganized
Maintenance Technician (Current Employee) –  Kent, WAFebruary 23, 2019
Have nothing to say. Dirty environment and parts management is very unorganized. Vacation is accrued according to number of hours worked. Some days it seems like everything breaks down all at once.
Cons
Lucky to get a break some days

Alright place to work
Operator II (Former Employee) –  Shawano, WIFebruary 16, 2019
It is an alright place to work if you like working only 4 days a week to start. Overtime is manditory. Must be posted by Wednesday before lunch at 11 am. They abuse this policy and sometimes post it just a couple minutes after the said time.

Management always changes
Moulder Operator (Former Employee) –  Greenville, PAFebruary 11, 2019
The day started with a quick meeting. Then quickly trying to run down a manager a d figure out what the scope of work was for the day because the information wasn't put out during the meeting. The company never listened to the employees and a constant turnover rate was shown. The employees worked hard, but...everyone was frustrated by lack of maintenance and instruction. The training consisted of hands on, no formal training, 100% expected rate from the beginning. The company had a high amount of osha recordable and employees constantly brought up safety issues to all levels of management with no regard or implementation of fixing the issues. In the year I worked there, I watched 2 main supervisors get fired. The plant manager fired. And numerous amounts of team leads fired. Just because the upper management held them to a double standard of "dont do this" however...its impossible to keep production without "doing this". The human resource was amazing and worked hard to help out. The pay is good however they realize they have to pay to keep their highly frustrated employees.

Pay, benefits
Cons
Everything except benefits and pay

Tooling design supervisor (Current Employee) –  Kent, WADecember 2, 2018
Management chooses to not listen to what is needed for the production floor. They look at what the numbers say is a good idea to do. Never asking plant management should this be done?
Pros
Great people on the floor and in our plant.

Toxic environment
Production & Engineering Manager (Former Employee) –  Molalla, ORNovember 19, 2018
Poor senior management with heartless arrogant attitudes created a toxic work environment that is palpable from the front office to the production floor. Unrealistic production and quality goals forced upon production leads results in fear-based motivation to the production workers which results in consistent turnover.

Good Place for the area to work
Equipment Supervisor (Current Employee) –  Cambridge, OHNovember 14, 2018
for the area it is a good place to work but not really matching what i am looking for. The jobs are gravy, not hard, but people in general are like we are all stuck in Kindergarten. I know this is not just at Quanex but everywhere.
Anyway for the area the work is easy and decent pay but for anyone looking to truly advance and grow and earn more you need to look outside the area or become a salesperson.

Manufacturing Associate (Current Employee) –  Richmond, IndianaNovember 5, 2018
They could use better training skills for new employees. Upper management could also use some training classes on how to treat employees with the same respect they want shown to them.
Pros
Great company events, company luncheons
Cons
Not treated very well as an employee. Even leads on the lines talk down to employees.

Warehouse Worker (Former Employee) –  Rice Lake, WIOctober 20, 2018
No communication with upper management. When doing certain jobs one feels on edge. The ad on radio says Quanex makes you feel right at home thats some B.S. Very stressful place to work. I recommend that if one needs a job save going there if you are desperate.
Pros
Paid lunches

Know what you are getting into, do your homework
Front Office Worker (Former Employee) –  Richmond, KYSeptember 17, 2018
There has been over 30% turnover at Mikron alone. Management is a club to most, not interested in promoting within. If you need a manufacturing job with not a lot of dedication, this is the job for you.

There has been an almost 100% turnover in the front office over the last 4 years. Research what you are looking to do and ask around.

Education budget got squashed. Bonuses are rare, they use that to lure you into the job. The culture is not existent.

This company used to be a good place to work until Quanex bought Edgetech. They no longer care about their employees. The workplace is toxic and I do not recommend working there.

I love this place
Line Technician (Current Employee) –  Richmond, KYAugust 15, 2018
I've been here for around 6 years. Left once and regretted it the whole time. This is a good job. Great benefits, good pay, easy to move up if you're willing to work hard, and nobody looking over your shoulder all day.
If You do your job they leave you alone and let you work. Nobody bothers you. No set break time go as you please as long as you stay caught up and do your job.
Vacation is three best. After 5 years you get 126 hours vacation, 24 hours paid wellness time, and 2 floating holidays. And if you take off on your short weeks which is Wednesday and Thursday you only use 24 hours and get 7 days off. That's over 7 weeks a year off work and paid. You only get 80 hours vacation for the first 5 years but thats still 5 weeks a year off. PAID.
And You only work half the time anyway.
The 401k is great to. You can borrow against it anytime, and pay payments back. But you're paying yourself back. They also have a good pension plan to.
The hours are early. We start at 4:30 a.m. and night shift starts at 4:30 p.m. but you're off a lot. Lots of home time.
Last thing, the management treats you great like you're actually a person and not just a clock number.
Really great place to work.
And the co workers are great.
Pros
Great benefits, pay, co workers, and treated right
Cons
Really can't think of anything bad. Other than it gets hot of the summer.
