Happy Place to Work!
Director of Sales (Former Employee) –  Charlotte, NCAugust 29, 2018
A typical day is fast paced and long. I learn how to be a leader versus a manager. Management was fair. Workplace culture was good. The hardest part of the job was hiring the best talent. The most enjoyable part of the job were the people.

Bad Behavior IS tolerated
Administrative Assistant (Former Employee) –  Silver Spring, MDAugust 8, 2018
People can do what they want regardless of how it effects others, and get away with it. Management keeps old dead wood and lets them do what they want to the determent of the other staff. They've lost good people because of someone who supports the President of the company.

Overall great place to work. Something new everyday.
Contracted Videographer (Current Employee) –  Houston, TXAugust 1, 2018
A typical day at Radio One is like no other job. Something new and fresh everyday. I learned a lot about the music industry, community outreach, event marketing and promotions, digital sales, video production, on-air radio broadcasting, radio operations and much much more!
Management works hand in hand as one big team. Like a car, each department is critical to the next meaning in order to be drivable all parts must work together. This made the work culture feel like one big happy family. Truly lucky to have had the opportunity to work with such outstanding and caring people. The hardest part about the job is that its so cool you'll never want to stop working. I enjoyed everything from school and community events to meeting celebrities, creating original content everyday, and even becoming a guest DJ/ Mixer on-air.
Pros
Unlimited self growth. All departments work together. Great teamwork atmosphere.
Cons
No Part-time benefits. No Job security. Limited part-time hours

Competitive work environment
Senior Account Manager (Former Employee) –  Dallas, TXJune 25, 2018
Commissioned sales position where everyone was encouraged to compete with each other, not collaborate. Urban environment with racist overtones. I was the only non AA sales person on the force.

Great job for rookie in sales
Integrated Marketing Specialist (Current Employee) –  Raleigh, NCJune 21, 2018
It teaches you how to be a go getter. Because nothing is handed to you. You work for every dime you get. But, since its a media company you know there's perks.

Really love this job, but its easy to outgrow when there are few chances to advance. It gave me the opportunity to learn many new skills. Everyone gets along well, although the departments dont interact together very often.

Overall, Radio-One was a good place to work for. When sales declined, they did not have a plan in place nor the right management to deal with the process of getting sales back up

Great People to work with but underappreciated and compensated for the work involved
Board Operator (Current Employee) –  Atlanta, GAMay 10, 2018
I think that Radio One has great people and management and the perks are the ability to increase your skill and put yourself in position to meet industry leaders. Unfortunately they are known to add responsibilities without compensation. Bigger title without bigger pay. Reach develops great talent that usually have to leave the company to see the payoff.

Board operator/ Producer/ Production (Former Employee) –  Detroit, MIApril 1, 2018
Go into work with a mindset of getting your job done, but make sure you are bettering yourself everyday. You have to balance what you do for the company with what you and doing for yourself. Make sure you take care of the platform, but use to the platform in positive way to benefit yourself as well. All in all it can be a great company to work for and you will learn a lot.

Project Leader (Current Employee) –  Atlanta, GAMarch 6, 2018
The company was great and has perks but it is not the place to work if you want to advance in your career. They do not pay fairly and do not promote from within. The benefits are okay but management needs improvement and they need to learn to value their employees.

The work place is not only inviting but filled with dedicated individuals who are determined to win and make the overall organization profitable and successful. I acquired not only professional skills but life skills on time management as well as conflict management. The organization as a whole takes care of their people but also strive and push them for greatness.
