Decent
Veterinary Technician (Former Employee) - Queens, NY - November 30, 2023
Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedWasn’t the best work environment. Staff that were there longer felt they can get away with more and new staff were always picked on for everything else. One Doctor was always condescending and always talking hooplah. Same with senior staff

Lack of care for part-time employees
employee (Former Employee) - NYS - March 29, 2023
This company, as others do, profess to care for their employees. This is apparently only their full-time employees as they have decided that part-timers no longer get any paid time off other than sick days.
Pros
none
Cons
no time off

Amazing company in every aspect
Technical Operations Manager (Current Employee) - Portland, ME - October 27, 2022
Rarebreed supports people and understands the work/life balance. They provide state of the art equipment to get the job done and invite input from all levels. My team consits of hard working individuals that work as one team to get things done. We recently had a work trip where we all went sky diving and I got to jump out of an airplane with the ceo. Rarebreed rewrites all the rules and hires based on personality and interpersonal compatibility. 100% the best company I've ever known of.

Progressive company with a mission to reimagine veterinary medicine.
Area Manager (Current Employee) - Maine - August 15, 2022
I have worked at Rarebreed for 2 years. It’s been an incredible experience. This company is striving to give their medical professionals the best work life that they possibly can and they won’t stop until that is achieved. I could not be more proud to be a part of this company.

Toxic environment
Licensed Veterinary Technician (Former Employee) - Orrington, ME - June 26, 2022
Transparency and honesty is a huge issue. Lots of drama curated behind the scenes. Does not give clear instructions on how to accomplish any goals. Expects perfection out the gate.

Absolute horror management
Veterinary Technician (Current Employee) - Canton, CT - May 27, 2022
Subpar medicine being practiced and nothing done about it. Management aka hospital manager will yell across treatment at you like you are a child. Constantly out of main items.
Pros
Coworkers are nice
Cons
Toxic

Wonderful culture and mission - great place to work
Marketing (Current Employee) - Remote - August 19, 2021
Rarebreed truly places importance on the happiness and well-being of its employees. They have open lines of communication and clearly respect the opinions and feedback from staff. They are making a positive difference in the veterinary world, and the animals that are cared for, which is something very close to my heart.
Pros
transparency, leadership team, culture, health benefits, vacation time
Cons
none that I can think of

Great place to work! Good benefits for you and your fur babies!
Emergency Critical Care Liaison (Current Employee) - Scarborough, ME - May 10, 2021
I had the opportunity to be at my hospital when we became part of Rarebreed. I have worked for different corporate veterinary hospitals through out my life. For the first time I feel I am working for a company that cares about the employees and the benefits they receive. Everyone I have met above me treats me as a equal human and not that they are above me. They understand the success of a business starts with the employees. The workplace culture is wonderful and I genuinely believe it is the people that make it so enjoyable.

New Exciting Company With A Focus On Employee Satisfaction
Director of Operations (Current Employee) - Plattsburgh, NY - May 6, 2021
I have had the opportunity to work for Rarebreed for the last 5 months. I have worked for different companies for the past 25 years and I can say for the first time, I'm now working for company that cares about the employees and the benefits they receive. They understand the success of a business starts with the employees. So far I can say, Rarebreed is a great company.

Engaging, empowering and thoughtful workplace
Analyst (Current Employee) - Portland, ME - May 5, 2021
Rarebreed is not for someone who wants something cush and to punch the clock. The company is growing exponentially and the mission is to serve each and every member of our staff with the support they need to excel. Management gives me the resources and flexibility I need to perform my job and motivates me to exceed expectations. I feel like a member of the team, a partner, despite being significantly younger and less experienced. The hardest part of my job is that every single person, hospital, and deal are different. We do not conform to a playbook for our partners and with that, we rely heavily on developing the local leadership teams. Rarebreed goes against the grain by personalizing each and every relationship in hopes of retaining or creating the best culture at each location. The best part of my job is when the positive impact is realized after a partnership is formed. Seeing people's lives change for the better is what gets me out of bed to put the jersey on and get out on the field.
Pros
Health care, benefits, flexibility, Pto

Management broke the law, Understaffed to the max
Veterinary Assistant/Receptionist (Former Employee) - Cranston, RI - April 22, 2021
Oaklawn location in RI - One of the most impressive grapevines and rumor mills I've ever seen. the favoritism is clear to certain departments and tenured people. Also SEVERELY understaffed and unsafe staff/patient ratios. Chronic call outs, as well. Experienced and talented techs haven't received raises in YEARS. I was told I was on "last warning" for discussing wages in the workplace with coworkers and was suspended without pay even after informing the managers that it was a federally protected right. Literally federal law allows you to discuss your wages. I found a new job the next day. The clinical support staff is amazing, but management needs to get it together. Absolutely unappreciated, overworked, and unsupported. And the people who constantly call out or don't put in the effort at work get the same raises and bonuses as those that are reliable and work hard.
Pros
Great coworkers on the clinical side
Cons
Management broke federal law, understaffing, uncompetitive wages even for the field
