One of the big problems I had besides poor communication between managers had to also be a lack of support when going on maternity leave. I was as proactive as I could be when trying to get my paperwork processed and the in house HR person at the time disappeared and NO ONE followed up with me. I didn't get short term disability until after I came back - more... to work 6 weeks later and none of my time off for vacation was processed. I could have no had a job and wouldn't find out until it was too late. Thankfully my immediate manager kept in contact and it worked out after all. - less
