Being an Owner Operator
Truck Driver Class A (Former Employee) –  Charlotte, NCOctober 21, 2018
Trying out being an Owner Operator. Seeing how it is picking my own load and where would I like to go as well as going home anytime I feel like it. The hardest part of the job is sometimes the dispatchers say that they don't have a load to get when in fact, they do.
Pros
Pick your own loads
Cons
Fuel and Maintence come out of pocket

Don't do it. Totally not what they make it out to be. High turnover for a manager that has been there only 10 months, that must tell you something! Picks favorites and those favorites become his eyes when they are just as guilty. Sad.

Not recommended if you are a family man!!
Truck Driver Class A (Former Employee) –  Skyland, NCDecember 20, 2017
A typical day at Red Classic is 12 - 14 hrs. long. In the summertime you WILL work 65 to 70 hrs. a week! You will be working weekends also. The dispatch team does not communicate with each other. If you have a problem You have to explain it to them several times before it gets resolved. Paychecks are short all the time, if you have a shortage it takes on average an hour to get it corrected. That's EVERY week!! This is a slip seat operation. You may have to wait for the other driver to start your run.If you have a accident, you are fired after about a week off. If you work for this company, watch your paycheck!!

Poor management!! Poor routing, poor pay, very insecure place to work. Dispatch is horrible, maintenance is horrible. The mechanics aren't qualified to change a light bulb.. overall this company is a bad deal!

Misleading
Customer Service Representative (Former Employee) –  Charlotte, NCJuly 5, 2017
The job position postings and actual job duties aren't the same. It is very misleading. No one informs you or trains you properly, just thrown into positions.
