Great benefits
Materials Management Supervisor (Former Employee) - Reno, NV - October 3, 2022
Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedBenefits are great. Compensation was average. A lot of "empire building" in different departments and inter-departmental conflicts. Much of the front line employees are unionized so the bad apples are hard to get rid of. Frequent management changes lead to uncertainty.

Dysfunctional Mess
Business side (Former Employee) - Reno, NV - April 14, 2023
Do not expect any work-life balance here. Prepare to work weekends on a whim. No work from home. Soon, they will not even have offices, or even cubicles, but an all open work space, just tables, so they can watch you. The work load stress is so high, there are people crying in their offices. Yes you get NPERS, which is paid fully by the employer. HOWEVER, if you leave before you are vested which is 5 years, you get NOTHING. Nothing to move to the next job like a 401k. Management will burry reviews with their fake 5 star ones.
Pros
Free parking
Cons
Management, hours, work load, stress

Jobs at Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority
Bustling Airport with great culture and benefits. A place to hang your hat.
Marketing Coordinator (Current Employee) - Nevada - March 29, 2022
The RTAA is a good place to work with forward-thinking leaders and a good culture for all types of positions and people. RTAA promotes continued education, advancement and recognition. The airport has REALLY good benefits that far outshine any company I was with before. The hardest part of the job is when the airport is busy (which is a good thing, because it means business is good) because it creates more to do. I never knew I would appreciate the aviation travel industry like I do now, working for the RNO airport is such an enjoyable experience.
Pros
NVPERS and other benefits, quarterly events, THRIVE culture, discounts at food and retail
Cons
No flight perks

Depressing place to work
Communications Specialist (Former Employee) - Reno, NV - August 10, 2019
Working at the airport is one of the most depressing jobs I ever had. The benefits were awesome, PERS, you can't beat it. Everything else was pretty terrible. Management was bad. They didn't promote from within. The accounting department treated everyone in the company like garbage. There was a HUGE gap between departments and the culture sucked. Work life balance was nonexistent because the turnover rate was so high. Mandatory ot was a normal thing. If you prefer to be forced to be at work all the time for a company that doesn't care about employees then go work at the Reno Tahoe Airport.
Pros
benefits
Cons
Union contracts, fighting for pay, forced to work overtime, management

Great place to work.
Police Officer (Former Employee) - Reno, NV - April 2, 2019
Worked for the PD. Had to move out of State. Great group of people at the PD and the Airport in general. Pay was good, benefits were good and Nevada PERS would have been great had I stayed long enough. Be safe BOYS.
Pros
Salary and Co-Workers
Cons
The YARD. Need 10s or 12s.....

Great job with benefits
Administrative Assistant (Former Employee) - Reno, NV - December 19, 2018
This a very secure job place with great benefits but extremely slow paced. Someone like me with high energy and ideas was not the right fit for me . But I did enjoy the friendship and team work culture that was a important part of the employees daily.
Pros
Secure
Cons
Boring

Terrible management
Security Specialist (Former Employee) - Reno, NV - November 3, 2017
I worked in the security department. It’s really a joke how they ran things. You got to be a politician at all times to be successful. The manager is completely out of touch with day to day operations and relies on gossip for her insight. Operations supervisors who oversee the entire airport are tasked with supervising the security department but they are too busy with their other duties you never see them, yet they are responsible for your performance review. Since the operations supervisors are never around they have no idea of your performance and rely on input from your peers for the reviews, hence you got to be a politician. Instead of promoting respect for your peers and team building they encourage telling on each other because it’s the only way the manager and operations supervisors have a clue what’s happening in the department.
Pros
Pers, Pto
Cons
Management, culture, stress

Hostile work environment and poor management
Security Specialist (Current Employee) - Reno, NV - August 6, 2017
They play favorites and only promote those who they like instead of those who are qualified. There is no such thing as job security, if they decide they don't like you they will make work miserable until you quit, if that doesn't work, management and HR team up to plan your termination. I've seen several people experience this during my time there including myself. Management is a tightknit group who lives large while front line workers get nickeled and dimed on their reviews, you'll never get a full raise they just keep telling you that you need to do better.
Pros
Good benefits
Cons
Hostile work environment, politics, favoritism, no job security

Excellant work environment
Property Specialist 1 (Former Employee) - Reno, NV - January 31, 2017
RTAA offers a wonderful balance for a quality work environment and personal life. The compensation and benefits are almost unheard of in either the public or private sectors.

Lies, Manipulation, AND a Hostile Work Environment - What's not to like?
Communications Specialist (Former Employee) - Reno, NV - August 6, 2016
A typical day at work - attempt to survive the lies, manipulation, verbal abuse and harassment from the Senior Comm. Specialist. What I learned - human resources will not only ignore any and all complaints about a hostile work environment, they will also notify your immediate supervisor to advise of your dismissal of employment. Management is allowed to have inappropriate relations with subordinates such as the Senior Comm. Specialist. Co-workers stir the pot, talk behind your back, perpetuate lies to alleviate the attention off themselves, throw you under the bus, and then smile to your face. The hardest part of the job is dealing with the stress of co-workers providing negative feedback to your supervisor while keeping this information secret from you. I was terminated just prior to taking vacation as a probationary employee - all the while being told what a great job I'm doing, and never once receiving any written feedback providing an opportunity for improvement or acknowledgement of needed improvement. The most enjoyable part of the job - NOTHING! Stay far away from this hellhole.
Pros
Nothing
Cons
Hostile Work Environment, Dishonest Work Review Process, Lies, Manipulation, Incompetent Human Resources Dept.
