Working for RNDC
District Manager (Former Employee) –  Houston, TXAugust 27, 2018
If you are willing to trade your life for good compensation this is the place for you. One thing is, you get a nice paycheck on a regular basis, but you do need to work 14 plus hour days sometimes. It is truly a lifestyle, not a job. If you are single and don't have a family it will be perfect for you. If you have a family or any type of social life, you will have to make many hard choices.

Management is a boys club, it is poor, not a lot of clear direction being done, either you are micromanaged or not managed at all leaving the sales team to be very confused.
Pros
Good pay, free alcohol sometimes
Cons
No work-life balance, no equal opportunities

Best Management and Company I've Worked for
CDL Class A Driver/Trainer (Former Employee) –  Littleton, COJuly 25, 2018
Honestly if I hadn't had to relocate for my wife's job, I would still be working for this company. Hands Down, the best management, best work environment, best pay and benefits I've received from any job, the actual president of the company would come down to speak with all of the non corporate employees to not only let them know that they were valued and important but would ask how things were going in your personal life. Hands Down the best company I have ever worked for, I would gladly work for them again.
Pros
Management, Work Life balance, compensation, Involvement
Cons
Some of the Mountain routes were rough, but they were at least compensated as such.

productive and time consuming job
Retail Sales Associate -Wine Portfolio (Former Employee) –  Grand Prairie, TXJuly 31, 2018
Great benefits and atmosphere work place. Very generous to charities and non-profit organizations. Management staffs across the board need some serious work. Do not trust your manager, and do not listen to your manager. They lead you astray. Managers in company help you to ease their workload. They will not help associates in daily work. As long as team overall production is good, there is no problem. If team production is struggling or lagging; the management team distances themselves from team.

District Manager is terrible
On Premise Sales Representative (Former Employee) –  Tampa, FLOctober 16, 2018
Micromanaged even though role is 100% commission. They are very anti women and age discriminate. There is now over 55 monthly quotas/POD you must make even though it's not tied to any compensation. Very unrealistic expectations with new management

Sales is tough but worth every minute!
Wine Sales Representative - Mountain Region (Current Employee) –  Denver, COSeptember 5, 2018
Your day to day operations in sales can vary based on the needs of the customers.

I've learned that you can always do more! Hard work and determination payoff.

Management for RNDC is always here to support their sales force all you have to do is ask. This is a great environment to work in. It is not for the faint of heart. Sales is a tough job. You must have thick skin and be self motivated. Being competitive is a plus.

The hardest part of my job is having a balance with work and family life. Saying no and setting boundaries for quality personal time are often difficult but this is based on personality not something that RNDC pushes you towards.

The best part of the job is the relationships you make with your customers! Helping them cultivate an exceptional wine list or setting a retail store up for success is exciting and rewarding!
Pros
No cap for income! Work hard and you are rewarded
Cons
No holidays off! Compromise family time.

Sales Representative (Current Employee) –  Ashland, VAAugust 11, 2018
You’ll have to work hard, but pay is good. Take the time to assess where you want to be, and align yourself with that space. The company rewards people who give the job 110%.

Sales organization determined to burn out the entire workforce
Sales Representative (Former Employee) –  Houston, TXSeptember 27, 2018
There is never enough support whether it be positions that were open being infilled or help and information needed from management. everything falls on the reps shoulders and they are expected to go to the ends of the earth to make their numbers which changed daily and are never clear. There is a very poor motivational vibe from everyone in management no matter how good you do it’s always about what you didn’t. Real problem is that management does not invest in their employees and their professional growth they they are only concerned with continuing padding their own pockets and getting everything you can out of you or nothing in return.

Stressful workplace, very physically challenging
Merchandiser (Former Employee) –  Jessup, MDJuly 6, 2018
RNDC was a great experience. The type of work that I was doing was very physically challenging and demanding. Creativity and artistry was an absolute must have. I would only recommend this position to someone who likes to be outdoors, is physically fit and strong, and who is very creative.
Pros
Great pay, great benefits

Stay away if you have a Degree. Underpaid
TERRITORY SALES MANAGER (Former Employee) –  Dallas, TXApril 19, 2018
Do not work here if you have a college degree. They do not give raises. They do not believe in good evaluations. Their policy is to always give a 3 out of 5 on evaluations to protect themselves. Very tribal there. Only pretty ladies advance fast. Guys who hang out with managers advance as well. Its a trap bc at first its fun, then you find out you will never make more than 46k no matter how hard you work.

Free wine

Lacks Diversity and respect

Unsatisfactory Work/Life Balance
Former Manager (Former Employee) –  Atlanta, GAMay 4, 2018
RNDC does not foster work/life balance; they may say the do, but they really don't. There is too much work and too many projects for a fast-growing company of it's size and staff is not provided with the tools they need to complete the work.
Pros
Decent Pay & Benefits
Cons
Too Paternalistic and not in a good way

Merchandiser/Sales Rep (Current Employee) –  Fort Wayne, INNovember 26, 2018
A typical day consisted of visiting accounts, ordering product. I learned the importance of relationships with key decision makers. The hardest part of the job is striking a balance between account desires and meeting sales goals through company. The most enjoyable part of the job is the company culture. RNDC is very laid back with all managers having a strong desire to help you understand and excel at your job.
Pros
Schedule flexibility
Cons
Limited advancement opportunities

Not good
Merchandiser (Former Employee) –  DenverNovember 10, 2018
I only been with company for 1 and a half months and I’m already leaving. Management sucks and you do a lot of hard work for very little reward. My supervisor when I first interviewed with him was cool but I quickly learned how much of an a hole and idiot he really was.Only positives I can think of is some of the co workers I worked with and the store I got to work at with these two other guys I worked with.Be careful who you work with at this company or they will run a tattletale on you and make up lies. If your truck showed up late then you’re day would be screwed. One last example of a bad day is I got a load of up to 10000 cases and it came late and had to work 10hrs and it SUCKED. That’s how it’s supposed to be during the holidays. And they don’t give you a route to go on everyday it’s a guessing game of what store you’ll go to everyday. Bottom line if you want to keep your sanity and mental health, DONT WORK HERE
Pros

Pay Management, truck times, truck shows up late messes up your whole day

Not a bad place to work as long as you have friends there
Specialist (Former Employee) –  Tampa, FLNovember 4, 2018
One of the two big distributors locally. They pay well and they hire their friends, usually from restaurants or bars locally. The office is nothing to write home about. They bought out Charmer-Sunbelt and are merging with them, so they will have more brands to sell. As far as new hires, they like wine people. Most of the reps know the basics of certain spirits, but they have a culture that is "wine first". Since the reps get paid more commission on wine, that is the reason. They also hire the people they like from accounts usually and the pay is good. If you are coming in from another distributor, watch out. They like THEIR people and usually promote from within. This is why certain reps are untouchable and only put in work when their boss tells you. Suppliers beware...they will make it a standoff when they aren't performing and the good old boy network is strong here. When they get some change in upper management and some new blood, there will be some hope for being more proactive instead of reactive.
Pros
Expense account, work outside the office, try new wine and spirits
Cons
Management and employee culture. Training is all web based.
