Old school culture

The culture is very old school. Just a few years ago it was suit and tie and no flexibility on remote working. In addition, there’s a lack of diversity whether it is race, gender, etc). There’s a lack of diversity in senior leadership. Maternity is was not fully paid until very recently. You’re only getting 6 weeks. There’s no paternity leave. Also, this is the largest private company in Illinois. Women in leadership is hard to come by so it makes sense that benefits for mothers are not very well represented.

Great Company Culture and Development Opportunities

During my time with Reyes Beer Division, I held a few different Sales positions. Reyes was a great environment to work in, they are very focused on their Company Culture. If you a hard worker and eager to succeed in your career, they will do all in their power to help you develop and offer learning opportunities. Reyes really prioritizes work/life balance and sees the importance of putting their employees needs first. The motto I would say about working here is "Work hard, play hard." The roles that I held were always very challenging, but always came with some fun perks and a lot of neat opportunities.

Pros

Great team, Incentives and Pay Structure

Cons

Tough flexibilty on Schedule

Company is Moving forward

Since working here I have worked alongside the company and I have watched management shifts, many of which are great for the future of the company. The company provides good benefits and fair pay.

Fired hr, but kept the same management that kept burning the company to the ground over and over again

No HR department, no appreciation, have to carry slower workers, no accountability, takes advantage of hardworking people, unrealistic,no overtime....

Real people work here

I was contracted here for about 7 months to be the Sr Network voice engineer. At the time, they had 1 full-time Network engineer, and one full-time contractor working as a network voice engineer. They later hired another network voice engineer. All three of them were great in their roles, and I as a facilitator of projects, I got an opportunity to learn a ton from these guys. Also, if you're hired here, you're gonna be like fam! The company has been doing very very well for quite some time, and they take care of their people. Even if you;'re not in the inner circles, you're still always respescted. Now...Don't get it twisted. They've been doing very very well for a reason. A very active and intelligent atmosphere that clearly trickles from the top down. The network manager is a network master, and one of the most intelligent leaders i've ever had the opportunity to work with. Plays his part to perfection. They know who to hire, and where to place said hire. Highly intelligent folk here. Cool though. They have bars in the building. A gym. Respectable pay. (Ask for exactly the amount you really prefer to have.) Opportunities to grow are abundant. #onelove

Matters where you are

Reyes is divided into separate sub companies. People who work for their beer & bottle distribution seems to love the company are compensated adequately & find advancement opportunities. Working for one of the other sub companies, MB, RFS or Reyes enterprises will find not as much flexibility, compensation is lower & advancement both in pay & career are not as plentiful as working for RBG or Great Lakes Coca Cola

Growing too Quickly without Enough Staffing

Direct manager was amazing but the place is a mess. I felt like I had walked into a disaster zone. No real standard operating procedures in place nor policies or protocols other than what is federal and state regulated. Everyone just does what they feel is right even though none of them are doing it the same. Most of the staff is not very friendly and often resistant to helping others. Very quiet atmosphere. From what I gather, the majority of the staff feel overwhelmed with their daily tasks.

Pros

Fruit available to enjoy all week, friendly receptionist

Cons

Poor training, some staff are not up to par in their position (possibly due to the training they received)

It's corporate and a conglomerate.

It's all about work, stats and constant push to do more for the exact same amount as yesterday. I wouldn't say it's a "bad" place...just lacks personal touch or motivational intuition. Management is just as much under stress from their superiors as the grunts on the ground thumping out initiatives. The hardest part was dealing with establishment employees who were afraid to do anything different, and then still expecting different results. The great thing about the job was different opportunities and exposures to the many faceted aspects of working for a large corporation. It has perks, but then the politics creates resentments and drawbacks. Not a bad place to work, but doesn't offer much for advancement.

New Acquisition

This company most recently acquired the family owned company that I had worked for, for almost 3 years so it was hard to make a good assessment on the workplace culture. It was a process for everyone, learning new procedures and job requirements, but the few months into the acquisition, everything was great and excited to be working for a bigger and better company.

Family not a priority to upper management

They claim that family matters, but the way things are planned and scheduled the only family that matters is the Reyes Family. They claim to work only an 8 hour day but are scheduled 9 hours and work 10 to 12 hours. Employees and front line management are extremely fatigue and overworked. Upper management has no on hands interaction on a day to day basis with the employees, only makes decisions that are life altering solely on numbers and statistics. Front Distribution Supervisors have no scheduled lunches or breaks on a 10 to 12 hour day.

Pros

Job only

Cons

No lunches or breaks for management
