Fair place to work.

Indeed Featured review

The salaries are fair and a flexible work environment. Job direction could be a little more defined. Growth opportunities are limited unless you are willing to travel.

Ok place to work

Lots to learn, there is a challenge advancing in the workplace. Nice colleagues. Management is ok depending on your department. Lots of on-call hours, so no work-life balance. Chance to work remotely regardless of covid

Recently acquired by Ribbon so still learning the ropes

Upper Management seems very supportive and consistently provides good communication channels from the CEO down to keep all employees abreast of company news.

No training on new tools used in Ribbon

Abusive language used by employees against each other. Age descrimnation. No formal training on tools used within EdgeWater Networks or (later acquired by) Ribbon Communications.

Limited opportunities for development

With the merger of Sonus and GENBAND there has been an effort to simplify product lines and eliminate duplication of products and roles to show profit. This has meant that many positions have been and continue to be cut.

Limited opportunity for development or advancement

Very insecure environment

Even though the legacy telecommunication industry have been in decline for many years due to fast emerging mobile communications, legacy telecom projects still account for a very large part of Ribbon's profits. While Ribbon strive to stay relevant in a fast moving industry they focus their efforts on software products while neglecting the people who are working on ongoing "bread & butter" legacy telecom projects. Opportunities are few and many people are just waiting for the dreaded call from their manager & the HR department. Layoffs are never ending and doesn't make sense as highly skilled hardworking people get layed off frequently. My business school lecturer always said "good mangers increase productivity, bad managers cut costs". Ribbon is filled with the latter.

Flexible hours, Work from home

High stress, Zero Job security

Fun environment with friendly people to work with and a foosball table

The company's work environment is quite fun and people give you your own space to work on the projects you have been assigned to. The managers are quite chill and work around the schedule of the employee understanding his university problems.

fun to work, foosball table, free lunches sometimes

no health insurance to interns

Good place to kick-start your career

People who join there dont quit. Its a good place to start but you get saturated in a couple of years. Working was fun. People offer you help. Some really experienced people out there to help you.

Supportive and relaxed

work culture is great and colleagues help each other in troubleshooting issues in the work. Manager is cooperative and understanding. Great team work and good opportunity to learn new things.

Ribbon Is Not A Place You Want To Be

Management is poor Work Place Culture is Depressing due to constant layoffs Most enjoyable part: The people at the working level. Ribbon is the product of Sonus Networks taking over Genband. After the takeover the company was renamed to Ribbon and the layoffs began immediately.

Got to move past merger

Merger between Sonus and Genband needs to finish. Headcount reductions are being done in the name of cost and not with respect to functions and/or skills. (management has stated this openly.) Gaps are already occurring. Going to be a mess.

Chaotic, no loyalty

Every changing priorities and focus. Their plan for success is to buy out companies, then layoff 50% of the new employees. Merged with SONUS and now Sonus products rule. Let the experienced folks age out with the older Nortel gear.

good benefits

not enough staff, long working hours, having to quickly and constantly learn new areas due to short staff.

Not a good environment to be in due to downsizing

Layoffs for the location I worked at were kind of a bummer seeing good people let go. Lack of communication from the management as to what the plan was for the company and how it would be executed.

Challenging work

The company is restructuring after a merger so there is a volitility in peoples minds. The work was challenging and project was interesting, they have a small gym to go and relieve stress and a outdoor walking trail nearby

Productive workplace

A good working environment filled with challenging tasks. Less playful with a less number of young crowd but highly skilled and experienced managers and mentors.

Too much change right now for a good reading

Ribbon Communications is the merger of Sonus Networks and GENBAND starting in 2018. As may be expected in any merger, there is much rapid change in the first few months, with impacts to entire lines of business, and new management teams unfamiliar with established products. Rating: Stay Tuned. Maybe the growing pains will disappear.

Legendary employees. Many with decades of industry experience.

Management out-of-touch with the workforce, not committed to the industry they are in.

Nice company to work for testing in R&D voip product

My position as voip test engineer in Ribbon R&D area give me the opportunity to keep learning new feature implementation for Genband SBC product and improve my skill for testing. I like the way a communicate with my manger, because,it is with less supervision and providing weekly report . It's no easy sometimes to learn new functionality's and find ways to test it, but I always enjoy the new challenge.

Good benefits: healtecare, 401K, payoff vacation days, Life Insuranece

Sad State

"Lifers" are all around...no innovation. Ribbon is having a hard time defining who they are and where they want to go. Lots of old products and solutions.
