Maintenance Technician in Tampa, FL

Site staff are left to fend for themselves. Upper management has been so far removed that they no longer have any idea as to what happens of the properties.

bad management rude, no communication with staff about nothing that is important like being off , unit availability, fair housing laws are broken every day you do one for one you have to do for all.
Maintenance Technician in Pace, FL
on August 19, 2021
I started out has a part-time maintenance technician 1 and successfully completed my 90 day period and earned my EPA type 1 & 2 certification. I worked well over part time hours for a couple of months so I became eligible for benefits as I now became a part/full time employee. I worked at a 122 unit hud and section 8 state financed property. The property was staffed by four positions. Property manager, leasing agent, maintenance supervisor and supposed to be part time maintenance technician. As soon as I was hired the property got a new property manager and the leasing agent quit which a temp held that position for a year, the maintenance supervisor left after a year and later discovered that most maintenance technicians that have worked there for a max of two years. The property seems to be a high turnover property. I enjoyed the training and challenges while there. For my 2nd and last year working there I was practically dealing with the maintenance by myself. At this point, I had already had a few disappointed experiences with the company but the pros and cons were still equal. I had been experiencing a medical concern that was putting many more obstacles in my personal and work life. It had began to be to much for any one employee to deal with. I requested numerous times for a temp or to hire someone. I was on call 24/7 experienced covid-19 preparations a hurricane, a fire, the pool, lift station and many company changes on top of everything else. This experience can burn someone out quickly. Corporate seems to have a lot of drama and aren't connected with properties in a relaitble fashion. Higher management seems to use manipulation and lie often. They don't follow what they teach. The end of my 2nd year, I had to have a medical surgery done that would put me out of work for a month or more. I contacted HR that basically explained that the property didn't support medical leave, and that my position was not guaranteed to be there after my recovery. So I decided that this was the end. I have a lot of good and bad experiences with the company. At this point I have no interest in working with richman property services in the future. Coworker relations were not that great. I had a decent off site maintenance supervisor for guidance and the regional manager was good. She deserves better than what richman could offer.

Job itself is not bad or extremely difficult. Supervisors and management take care of and cover for themselves. If you have a problem with a higher up it is automatically your fault despite the proof shown and the job culture is not great.
